Warcraft Movie Horde

The crew at Industrial Light and Magic aren’t revered as wizards of the visual effects world without good reason. Thanks to the folks over at Wired, we now get a glimpse of some of the magic going into the eagerly awaited Warcraft with the release of a pair of new official images. The film is based on the popular video game series World of Warcraft from Blizzard Entertainment.

The two images give us a glimpse of the Orc hero, Orgrim Doomhammer, warchief of the Horde. He’s brought to life by British actor Robert Kazinksky, who was cast back in December of 2013 along with Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper, and Toby Kebbell. Orgrim was announced when the movie’s lineup of characters and who’s playing them was revealed last year.

You can see the official images of Orgrim Doomhammer below.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria

With the newest World of Warcraft expansion, Mists of Pandaria set to launch on September 25th, Blizzard Entertainment released Patch 5.04 this Tuesday. This patch paves the way for Pandaria. The new Talent System overhaul has been implemented, and it is a world of difference from any previous talent system that World of Warcraft has had.

Out are the days of cookie-cutter, set-in-stone builds and in are the days of flexible builds. Also new, changing a talent can be done on-the-fly. This means character builds can be modified mid-raid or mid-PvP battle, allowing for quick strategic changes depending upon what the situation may call for.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria

On August 28th when Blizzard Entertainment releases patch 5.0.4 for World of Warcraft, for the first time ever all races will become accessible to Warcraft players regardless of which version of the game they own. This means that even if you do not own any of the Warcraft expansions, you will still be able to roll a character using one of the races made available by them. This quantum shift in race accessibility will even include the Pandaren race, who become available on September 25th when Mists of Pandaria is released.

This begs question, which new race will you roll first?

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm

Yesterday Mike Morhaime, president of Blizzard Entertainment, announced a security breach via a ‘Blue Post’ on Blizzard’s official web site citing “an unauthorized and illegal access into our internal network here at Blizzard.” In the wake of the shaky Diablo III launch, and with the release of Mists of Pandaria looming so close upon the horizon, Blizzard really doesn’t need any more on their plate but they can’t seem to catch a break.

Morhaime goes on to state that “for players on North American servers, the answer to the personal security question, and information relating to Mobile and Dial-In Authenticators were also accessed. Based on what we currently know, this information alone is NOT enough for anyone to gain access to Battle.net accounts.” It should be noted at this time Blizzard doesn’t believe that any credit card information was accessed, and what was taken was simply e-mail addresses and SRP-encoded (Secure Remote Password protocol) versions of user passwords.

Diablo II Azmodan Lord of Sin sculpture preview by Jason Babler

Jason Babler, one of the art directors for Diablo 3: The Book Of Cain has taken his passion and hobby and combined them, making his own custom sculpture of Azmodan from the Diablo III universe. His sculpture is just breathtaking.

The sculpture stands at an impressive 17 inches tall and the base for the ‘Lord of Sin’ is 2 feet across. The detail on this piece is absurd – from the multiple texture types to the in-depth coloring and shading of Azmodan himself. Even his his mouth, eyes and magical orb all light up courtesy of miniature LEDs.
