Broken Vows movie banner Jamie Alexander

Broken Vows
DVD | VOD
Written by Jim Agnew & Sean Keller
Directed by Bram Coppens
Starring Wes Bentley, Jamie Alexander, Cam Gigandet, Alexandra Breckenridge
Lionsgate
Release Date: October 11, 2016

Broken Vows is a modern twist on the classic plot line perhaps most famously done in Adrian Lyne’s Fatal Attraction. In this film, the gender roles are reversed, and a potential wedding is the lynchpin of the plot. The writers, Jim Agnew and Sean Keller, have a resume, writing for horror maestro Dario Argento in 2009’s Giallo and for Oscar winner Nicolas Cage in 2014’s Rage. The director, Bram Coppens, is making his feature film debut and thankfully for him, he has a good cast with a truly creepy lead antagonist.

SDCC 2010: Sony Panel Shows Off ‘Priest,’ ‘The Other Guys’ & ‘Green Hornet’

Week of Geek: San Diego Comic Con International 2010

Sony was present at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con, and though they didn’t show off anything exciting from their reboot of Spider-Man, they did bring plenty of goodies to present for Priest, The Good Guys, and The Green Hornet.

They began with the new adaptation of Tokyo Pop graphic novel, Priest. The movie stars Paul Bettany, Cam Gigandet, Stephen Moyer, Karl Urban, and Maggie Q, who were all in attendance. The movie tells the story of a post-apocalyptic world that’s been devastated by centuries of war between humans and vampires. A priest (Bettany), who fought in the last big war, comes out of hiding to track down some vampires who kidnapped his niece.

The panel opened with a teaser trailer (which you can actually see below…though I’m not sure for how long). After that they go into some questions for the group. Basically just questions about what drew them to the film and and Bettany re-teaming with director Scott Stewart (Legion) and such.

Be sure to click over and check out the teaser while it still works!

The Unborn
Unrated DVD Edition
Written and Directed by David Goyer
Starring Odette Yustman, Gary Oldman, Idris Elba, Meagan Good
Universal Studios Home Entertainment
Release Date: July 7, 2009

Casey (Odette Yustman) seems to have a great life. She has a great good looking boyfriend (Cam Gigandet), a hot friend (Meagan Good), and a nice dad (James Remar). Plus, she is terribly good looking, too. She seems to have it all but I doubt you would want to trade places with her. It seems that this pretty little lady is haunted in her dreams by her unborn twin brother. Apparently during childbirth, her umbilical chord wrapped around her bro’s neck, killing him in the womb. Turns out her undead brother holds a grudge and is bringing some demonic buddies to exact revenge on his sis in this horror movie written and directed by David S. Goyer.

Goyer, best known for the Blade movies and Batman Begins, weaves a by the book horror movie. Hottie girl plagued by a supernatural evil? Check. Scary monsters and demons? Check? Finale with exorcism and high body count? Check and check. It is not anything that you haven’t seen before and Goyer never once tries to reinvent the genre, but that is not the point. The whole point of the movie is to deliver a story that is interesting and scary at the same time and it more or less fills those requirements on more than one occasion.

Twilight
Directed by Catherine Hardwicke
Starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Cam Gigandet, Taylor Lautner
Rated PG-13
Release Date: November 21, 2008

Imagine leaving your sunny and lively hometown of Phoenix, Arizona, to go live in the cold, rainy and dull Forks, Washington. Imagine leaving your frantic mother, to go live with your relaxed father. These extreme changes are what Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) must endure in Catherine Hardwicke’s Twilight.

The movie opens up as Bella is leaving Phoenix, and adjusting to her new surroundings. She soon finds herself at school and is captivated by the presence of a group of stunning schoolmates, who are the “foster children” of Doctor Cullen (Peter Facinelli) and his wife. Bella is most interested in the charming Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), who appears to be hiding a secret. At first, Edward avoids Bella at all costs, until he saves her from an almost fatal car accident. This is the start of a new relationship between Edward and Bella, and she soon finds out that Edward, and the rest of his family, are vampires; but, contrary to stereotypical vampires that feed on humans, the Cullens have taken on a “vegetarian” diet, feeding on animals instead of humans. Edward also explains to her that he was avoiding her because he thirsted for her blood.

Unborn Preview Image 07For those of you not aware, The Unborn is a new horror movie written and directed by The Dark Knight scribe, David Goyer. A new trailer, images, and a website have now been released to the masses.

The film stars Odette Yustman (Cloverfield), Gary Oldman (Harry Potter), Meagan Good (Saw V), Cam Gigandet (Never Back Down), James Remar (Pineapple Express) with Jane Alexander (The Ring), Carla Gugino (Sin City), and Idris Elba (American Gangster). It’s being released on January 9, 2009. It’s also produced by Michael Bay (Michael Bay!).

With so many God-awful horror movies coming out, we can only hope this one is a terrifying refresher. The movie looks like your typical horror movie concoction — pretty people, people/things twitching and horrifying children. But with the addition of Gary Oldman to that mixture, it may just be worth a peek; there has to be a reason he signed on! Now we play the waiting game to see if it gets the dreaded PG-13 kiss of death.

Check out the trailer, images, and synopsis here below and be sure to visit the official site.
