May 6, 2016, a day that was to pit Captain America 3 against Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice. With Marvel’s proven track record, the outcome of this seemed all too obvious, but there is a chance that moviegoers wanted to see what WB had in store for the DC Comics Universe. But Warner Bros has decided that keeping the May 6, 2016 date was too risky, and now has pushed back the release date to March 25, 2016 – which is well outside the Summer movie season.

We are still more than a year away from seeing Captain America 3, although we will see the titular character fight alongside his fellow Avengers in Avengers: Age Of Ultron next May. How the latter film will affect the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is unknown at this time, but if we were to base everything off what we saw in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, we’d have to say that Steve Rodgers (Chris Evans) and Sam Wilson aka the Falcon (Anthony Mackie) would be continuing to search for Bucky Barnes’ (Sebastian Stan) whereabouts.

The Russo Brothers have signed on to direct the film’s sequel, and talked to Yahoo! Movies about what we can expect to see in it, revealing that the third Cap film will take place “a couple years” after its predecessor, The Winter Soldier.

Avengers Age Of Ultron header image

There will be a long lull of Marvel Studios’ films between Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Age of Ultron. In between that lull we could expect to see trailers and clips for the latter film. So while some of us are waiting for the highly anticipated Avengers sequel to hit theaters next May, others are thinking beyond that date.

In addition to Age of Ultron, we will also see Ant-Man opening in July of next year, which will be followed up by Captain America 3 on May 6, 2016; followed by an untitled film; followed by another untitled film on May 5, 2017; then the release of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 on July 17, 2017, and another mystery release in November 2017.

Marvel has carefully coordinated their plan of attack by releasing up to two to three films a year. But it is 2018 we should all be watching out for. 2012 marked the release of The Avengers, and it’ll be three years since its release when Age of Ultron hits theaters next year. So does that mean we will have to wait another three years before Avengers 3 hits after Age of Ultron? Hit the jump to find out.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier Review

Marvel is obviously pleased with Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘s $300 million global box office gross this past weekend. The film was well-received by fans and critics alike, and now it’s time for the studio to look into the future, far ahead of its upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron‘s May 1, 2015 release. While we have Ant-Man to look forward to, Captain America 3 will be one of the closing chapters of the solo hero films.

Marvel teased the idea of a May 6, 2016 release, and initially scheduled Captain America 3 to open the 2016 summer blockbuster season. Now they confirm that the sequel will indeed debut on that date. Hit the jump to see what the film could be about, plus which other blockbuster tentpole superhero film it could go up against.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier doesn’t open in theaters for another two weeks, but that isn’t stopping fans from talking about what looks to be one of the most entertaining films of year. Having already seen it, I can assure you the sequel is one of the best superhero films ever. So to keep this from being spoilery, we will jump ahead to the next sequel, Captain America 3, which in itself is an exciting date if things continue on this path.

That’s because fans can’t even stop about thinking what it would be like to see Captain America go up against Batman Vs. Superman on May 6, 2016. But before you can speculate what the sequel will be about, especially having not yet seen Winter Soldier, screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely dropped one tiny nugget as to what we can expect. Hit the jump for more.
