The Call Of The Wild Movie

20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for Call of the Wild, starring Harrison Ford.

The film, based on the Jack London novel of the same name, centers on Buck, a domesticated dog who is stolen from his home and placed in the wilderness of the Alaskan Yukon during the height of the Gold Rush of the 1890s. He then befriends John Thornton, who adds him to his dog sledding team. And together they go on an adventure unlike any other. Check out the trailer below.

Masters of the Universe

Sony Pictures’ long-in-development live-action reboot of Masters of the Universe recently lost its latest director when Jon M. Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation), who had signed on to the project in the summer of 2012, departed to make the next G.I. Joe sequel. Back in October Pirates of the Caribbean and The Mask of Zorro co-writer Terry Rossio was hired to pen a new draft after a previous effort by Alex Litvak (Predators) and Mike Finch didn’t pass muster with the studio.

This reboot is apparently of great importance to the franchise-famished Sony because they have put together a list of potential directors to take over for Chu, and if this list is genuine, then Masters of the Universe could turn out to be pretty damn great after all.

The Croods Header

DreamWorks animation slate is pretty stacked for the next few years. One of their biggest projects for 2013 is the animated caveman family comedy, The Croods, featuring the voices of Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, Catherine Keener, Clark Duke, and Cloris Leachman. Quite a collection of talent for an animated film, and now we got our first look at the film. Check out the beautiful trailer for Chris Sanders (How to Train Your Dragon) and Kirk DeMicco‘s The Croods here below.

Now an oppressive patriarchal father who forbids his adventuring daughter from ever leaving the nest is nothing new. Scaring his younger children with stories of adventurers’ deaths may be a bit dark for the younger audience, but all of that is overshadowed by the bright and colorful images and that sense of “seeing a new world” in this trailer. I especially like the the cloud and sunlight work seen in the earlier parts of this trailer. Its a bit strange to see Cage do some voice acting work, but I’m sure audiences will get used to it as the film progresses. The Croods opens in theaters on March 22nd, 2013.

Back in October, DreamWorks Animation announced their intentions to produce a sequel to their hit animated title, How to Train Your Dragon. At that time, it was also revealed that the entire cast of the original movie — including Jay Baruchel, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, T.J. Miller, and Kristen Wiig — would be returning for How to Train Your Dragon 2 as well…except for one.

At that time it was unclear whether the biggest star on their roster, Gerard Butler, would be back or not. Now comes word that Mr. Butler has worked all of the dirty details out, and will indeed be back to voice the role of Stoick, the strong warrior father of Hiccup (Baruchel).

DreamWorks Animation Moving Forward With ‘How To Train Your Dragon 2’

As we all very well know, sequels are pretty much a guarantee when a movie does well, especially when it comes to computer animated feature films.

DreamWorks Animation has always been second to the masters of animated features, Pixar Animation, but they’ve done a great job improving their status over the years by delivering some impressive films. Unlike Pixar, who’ve always been a little reluctant on the idea, DreamWorks has never shied away from a sequel opportunity. Their biggest success, Shrek, turned into a major four-film franchise and Madagascar has its second sequel set for release in 2012. They also have a sequel to Kung Fu Panda on the way and a Shrek spinoff planned.

All of that said, it should come as no surprise that DreamWorks Animation has had plans to release a sequel to their last big hit, How To Train Your Dragon, and now they’ve started to reveal details on the sequel.
