TOY STORY 4

As a reporter, I have opportunities to visit animation studios and get a sneak preview of their upcoming films. It’s an exciting experience to step foot in these studios, to see such their rich histories and marvel at the legacy they are creating. But there’s nothing like visiting Pixar Animation Studios. When one gets an invite to go there, it’s hard to say no. So I was caught off guard when said invite came. Needless to say, I immediately said yes.

As a Pixar fan, I was going to enjoy every single moment and every single second of being on their campus in Emeryville, CA. It goes without saying that it was a life-changing experience. And so, after all the flights and getting settled into the hotel, I joined a group of journalists to take a look at the Pixar campus to see what Toy Story 4 is all about. More on this and reaction to the footage we were shown, below.

Toy Story 4

Earlier this month, I got the very rare opportunity to join a select group of journalists to travel to Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville, CA, where we got a sneak preview of Toy Story 4. The fourth installment of the Toy Story franchise sees Woody and Buzz go in a new direction by tapping into new themes that were never explored in any of the previous films. This is what helps keep the franchise fresh and new.

I’ve already shown you how technology has changed since the first Toy Story came out, but now it is time to hear from a roundtable interview we had with director Josh Cooley and producer Mark Nielsen about the upcoming film, the daunting task of revisiting a beloved franchise after the third is considered perfect, bringing Bo Peep back, and more. Check out what they had to say below.

Toy Story 4

The Toy Story 4 marketing campaign has been mostly small animated vignettes that consist of Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz (Tim Allen) in a variety of scenarios. Whether that’s holding hands in a friendship circle, correcting carnival prizes on how to say Buzz’s catchphrase correctly, or seeing a small town fair for the first time, it was clear that Pixar wanted to bring the toys back to the big screen.

And now, we are getting to see what kind of new adventure they will be on in an all-new trailer for the film. Check it out below.

Nearly a decade after the release of The Strangers back in 2008, a sequel titled The Strangers: Prey at Night is on the way early next year.

Though the movie is technically a sequel to the first movie, which starred Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman as a couple at a secluded summer home being terrorized by masked intruders, it’s described as “inspired by” the 2008 film. In it, a family staying with relatives at a mobile home park find themselves dealing with those same masked intruders.

An official teaser trailer for The Strangers: Prey at Night has been released, and can be viewed below.

Last week’s Mad Men found Joan (Christina Hendricks) quitting when the sexism became too much, and because Roger (John Slattery) told her to take the deal. That burned me up. Don (Jon Hamm) quits too (I think). I mean, he walked out right in the middle of a meeting and drove away. So if he didn’t quit, he’s fired. First stop? Diana’s husband’s house. There, despite the false story, he was made. And it was awkward. The driving made me feel like he was in danger. First, when he had a vision of Bert Cooper (Robert Morse) in his passenger seat, and I thought for sure he was going to run off the road. And second, when he picked up a scraggly hitchhiker. It made me Google David Berkowitz or Charles Manson to see if the fictional crossing of those paths could be a historically accurate possibility.

Last week on Mad Men, the gang found out that McCann Erickson “forgot” to pay the lease and everyone has to move to their offices. Don (John Hamm) tried a last ditch effort to separate themselves, by offering to go run the California branch. At least this way, the conflict clients won’t be affected. It’s shot down immediately, with assurances that this is better for them. When they finally tell the office at the end, it’s like they already ceased to exist.

Mad Men 7.11 “Time & Life” review is coming right up. First, Let’s recap last week’s episode.

Don (Jon Hamm) has to sell his place, but it’s not like selling product in advertising. His realtor is frustrated because it’s so empty and sad. He had a bunch of small sad moments in this episode – Peggy (Elizabeth Moss) yells at him, he fires Mathis (Trevor Einhorn) because he blew it with a client and then insulted Don for it, and then the last shot in the hallway outside of his apartment – depressing.

Joan (Christina Hendricks) meets someone in California who is so not interested in dating someone with kids, having been there, done that. Not really a problem since they are across the country, so she lies about her son. He shows up in NY. She tells the truth and he doesn’t want it. But then he does.
