C2E2 2019 Cosplay Gallery

It was that time once again to head south on 94 and make my way to Chicago, for C2E2 2019, which took place March 22, 2019 – March 24, 2019. It was a two-day event for me, going on Saturday and Sunday. Each year I go seems to be a new experience and this was no different. This year we seemed to focus more on the panels, spending more time in the main room rather than walking around, and when we did hit the convention floor, it was around Artist Alley, getting stuff signed and trying our best not to buy numerous prints/artwork we have no room for. So that meant less pictures of cosplayers this year, but I was able to get a few at the last minute once the show closed on Sunday, and people were lingering outside the entrance. But on the plus side, I got to cover a few panels, with pictures, and hey, even a video for you to enjoy.

See below for our rundown of C2E2 2019, along with our photo gallery from the convention and panel coverage and videos.

New Jersey Horror Con 2018

This year’s New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival finished up a crazy weekend at the Showboat Hotel on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. Any gathering of superfans is going to bring some amazing cosplayers. Saturday night, NJ Horror Con gave out their awards in the Cosplay Contest, but there were no losers. While every horror convention will inevitably bring out a number of Michaels, Freddys, and Jasons, the fans in Jersey rocked their costumes and the effort to entertain and scare others was amazing.

Check out our cosplay photo gallery here below.

Last month, it was once again that time for me to drive south and head into downtown Chicago, avoid the construction (as much as possible), and make our way to another year of C2E2, the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo. For us here in the Midwest, this is most likely the biggest convention in the area, although there were a few conventions going on in Chicago as well. I think it did affect the crowd a little, as it didn’t seem too terrible on Saturday.

See below for our rundown of C2E2 2018, along with our photo gallery from the convention.

Cosplay photos

If you had no idea what was going on in midtown Manhattan this past weekend, you might be very confused. Why were those girls painted green? Why does that guy have a giant sword made out of aluminum foil and cardboard? New York Comic-Con (NYCC 2017) welcomed hundreds of thousands of people to the Jacob Javits Center, and with events spilling over to Hammerstein Ballroom, Madison Square Garden, and even the Schwarzman Library, the cosplayers were out and about and in style.

Check out the cosplay images from NYCC 2017 here below.

Long Beach Comic Con 2017

The Long Beach Comic Con (LBCC), held this year on September 2-3, recently wrapped up, and it was another solid show, and in its ninth year seemed to be the biggest one yet.

The LBCC is one of a growing list of smaller- to mid-size conventions that offers a more comics-based focus as opposed to the big boys like the San Diego and NY Comic-Cons, where movie and TV programming and exhibitors almost overwhelm all else. Here, a variety of big names and new voices mingled in the sizable Artist’s Alley, and indie publishers were in abundance. Comic creators were well represented with names such as Howard Chaykin, Pia Guerra, Dave Gibbons, and Gene Ha, among many others. In terms of celebrity guests, this year’s LBCC managed to book both William Shatner and Sherilyn Fenn, along with a number of fan-favorite animation voice actors.

Lupita Nyong’o Dressed In Cosplay At SDCC, and No One Seemed To Notice

Lupita Nyong'o

Anyone who is anyone would know that an actor would probably have a hard time walking amongst the crowd at the San Diego Comic-Con. So most of the stars blend in using some ingenious cosplay. We’ve seen Maisie Williams dress as Spider-Man. John Boyega simply put a Stormtrooper helmet on. And Bryan Cranston dressed as his own Breaking Bad character by putting a Walter White mask on. So if you are at Comic-Con and see someone wearing a mask, you might never know who is behind it.

Case in point, Lupita Nyong’o. The Academy Award-winning actress who played Maz Kanata in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and plays Nakia, a member of T’Challa’s personal guard, in Marvel’s Black Panther, took to Comic-Con this past weekend dressed as the pink Power Ranger while wearing a jabberwocky mask with sunglasses, and no one seemed to notice. But she did take a couple of videos to prove that it was her. Check it out here below.
