Call of Cthulhu Game

We’ve seen some trailers for Call of Cthulhu in the past. The game comes from developer Cyanide Studios, and is inspired by the work of H.P. Lovecraft and, more specifically, the pen-and-paper RPG of the same name made by Chaosium.

In Call of Cthulhu, you play as a man investigating mysterious deaths in a place called Darkwater Island in the 1920s. For Gamescom 2018 a new gameplay preview video was released by publisher Focus Home Interactive, which you can find below along with much more info on the game.

Pathfinder Tales: Starspawn

By Wendy N. Wagner
Cover Art by Jesper Ejsing
Tor Books
Release Date: August 9, 2016

I was having a crisis of faith, folks. Specifically a loss of faith in the extended world of Pathfinder. For you see, I have read at least a half dozen of the Pathfinder Tales over the last few months and had become discouraged that I would find any that would please me. Luckily, I picked up Pathfinder Tales: Starspawn, for it has made everything okay again. Blending classic sword and sorcery with tales of the Old Ones, this novel more than makes up for some of the shortcomings I’ve seen in other books from this series. It is not without its flaws, but the tale itself is amazing and well written, two essential components in any fictional story.

Beyond Lovecraft art by Rob Moran

H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu stories have had a profound effect on a multitude of people for almost a century. They have inspired any number of books, games, and toys that continues on to this very day. As a matter of fact, I sit here with a Pop! figurine of Cthulhu on my desk inspiring me as I write this article! And having said that, I am proud to be able to present to you a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo for Beyond Lovecraft, a wondrous graphic novel that stays true to the original tales by taking the reader to some unpredictable and desolate places via sequential art. Four stories, all tied together with a single theme. What more could you ask for, right?

Well, how about Rob Moran providing all the art? That’s all it took to get me hooked. Well, that and he contacted me personally to let me know about it. I’ve been a fan for years, as his artwork is impeccable. He has a certain noir, macabre twist to much of his work that gives it far more depth than most artists can muster on their best days. He’s teamed up with writer Jasper Bark to create this amazing 96-page graphic novel for us.

The Fantastic and Gothic Art of David Palumbo

A Mosaic of Images From The Gritty Gallery By David Palumbo

Fantasy art and illustration has a beautiful and rich history. From the beautiful and titillating Margaret Brundage covers for Weird Tales through the poster, magazine, and album art of Frank Frazetta to the contemporary work of Marc Silvestri, artists and illustrators have brought color and shape to worlds of wonder. Be they scenes from the past, the future, or lands that never were, art plays an important role in fleshing out description and dialog.

Into this worthy tradition comes artist David Palumbo. Be it the historic flight of the first woman cosmonaut, Valentina Tereshkova, in June 1963; the return of the Cthulhu and the Old Ones to destroy a modern metropolis’ a Victorian image of Jack The Ripper, or creature art for the trading card game Legend Of The Cryptids, Palumbo brings a strong eye for detail, light, and color that immediately draws the eye. Parts of his paintings show detail with clarity, where others are intentionally vague. The figures often suggest a kinetic sense of impending motion that no photograph could properly convey. The faces are caught in expressions of terror, struggle, or bewilderment.

Kickstarter Spotlight: The Squdder

There are a lot of Kickstarter campaigns out there trying to get you to part with your hard-earned cash. But how many of them can say they are from Ben Templesmith and 44FLOOD? That’s what sets THE SQUIDDER apart from all the rest and that’s why we want to bring it to your attention, because these folks do their due diligence when it comes to putting together an awesome project.

If you love Lovecraft’s Cthulhu and want to see it take a science fiction-inspired leap forward, then this is the one for you. Described as “an original graphic novel about an old soldier from a forgotten war in a post-apocalyptic world that has left him behind,” this is the first creator-run book from Templesmith in five years. It’s something near and dear to his heart so I have no doubt it’s going to be excellent from start to finish. Not to mention the fact that this Kickstarter beat it’s goal so well that they upped the length from 108 pages to 144 pages (33% more)!

Check out the video below for more information direct from Ben Templesmith himself.
