Spoilers below for Legion:

Legion burst back onto TV screens on Tuesday night with the same absurd surrealist approach that made it a fan favorite back in 2017. There is simply nothing off-limits on this show and it runs from the top down. Show creator Noah Hawley has reinvented genre TV with both this and Fargo (also on FX) and his team of actors, cinematographers, special effects people and musicians all work to create the single most unique 70+ minute experience for viewers each week. In the debut for its second season, Legion was laugh out loud funny, wonderfully irreverent, featured voiceover narration from an Emmy-nominated guest star, and of course, because it’s Legion, culminated with an epic dance sequence.

Legion Header Image

Last year, my choice for best and most original new show was FX’s Legion, created by Fargo’s Noah Hawley. The Marvel property tells the story of David Haller (Dan Stevens), an immensely strong mutant with a bevy of powers not fully recognized yet, but including telekinesis, pyrokinesis, and telepathy. The show, which ran for 8 episodes in the Spring, covered David’s battles within and around his own mind, battling the Shadow King (Aubrey Plaza) and secret government agents trying to use his powers for themselves. The show featured stunning cinematography and special effects and was as visually stimulating as it was fascinating for its incredible writing and characters. While Plaza stuck out and deserved an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actress, the rest of the cast, including Rachel Keller, Bill Irwin, Jean Smart, Jemaine Clement, and Amber Midthunder, was excellent as well. In a world populated with superheroes, Legion stood above all. Now, a trailer has been released for Season 2, which premieres on this April.

Official Trailer For ‘The Man Who Invented Christmas’ Released

The Man Who Invented Christmas

An official trailer has been released for The Man Who Invented Christmas. The movie is the latest to tell the story of the creation of a classic story, similar to what we saw in Finding Neverland with the creation of Peter Pan, and the inspiration for Winnie the Pooh we’ll be seeing in Goodbye Christopher Robin.

It follows author Charles Dickens as he finds inspiration for what would become a holiday season classic, A Christmas Carol, a story that has been adapted into many different movies and TV specials over the years. Dickens is played in the movie by Dan Stevens (Beauty and the Beast, Downton Abbey), with Christopher Plummer (A Beautiful Mind, The Sound of Music) playing Ebenezer Scrooge.

Honest Trailer Beauty and the Beast

For years, people have complained that Hollywood is out of fresh ideas. Disney has taken this to the extreme by flat out remaking their animated classics into blended films, half live action, half CGI. First was 2016’s The Jungle Book. This year, Disney broke the bank with Beauty and the Beast, a live action retelling of their 1991 classic that became the first animated film to garner a Best Picture nomination. With the film hitting shelves on Blu-ray and DVD last week, the gang at Screen Junkies gave the near $2 billion mega-hit the Honest Trailer treatment.

Rated PG | 129 Minutes
Blu-ray Release Date: June 6th, 2017

Disney’s live action Beauty and the Beast has already grossed close to $1.2 billion worldwide, and it debuted in theaters less than 3 months ago! The film received rave reviews from critics and fans alike. It somehow managed to retain the magic and aura of the 1991 animated Best Picture nominee (the first ever animated film to receive the honor), all the while breathing new wonder into the timeless story. Given 25+ years to review the original classic, the writers and Director Bill Condon covered up some of the continuity errors, and added a few beautiful new songs to mix alongside some of Disney’s most famous tunes like “Be Our Guest” and the titular number. Featuring a star-studded cast headlined by a radiant Emma Watson and Dan Stevens, Beauty and the Beast was one of my favorite films of 2017 thus far, as well as my 6-year old daughter’s, who loved every minute.

Check out the features below.

Disney In Depth Banner

The tale as old as time is timeless, and so is its music. With the recent release of Disney’s smash success Beauty and the Beast, let’s unpack the music box that is the film’s soundtrack. With all of the original tunes from the 1991 film, as well as some new additions, this new version blends classic and contemporary almost seamlessly, with a few exceptions.

Here is my review of the soundtrack for the 2017 version of Beauty and the Beast.

Air date: March 29th, 2017

Spoilers below for Legion:

Tonight is bittersweet for fans of arguably the best new show of 2017 as FX’s Legion bids farewell to its incredible debut season. We’ve been a wild ride with David Haller (Dan Stevens), a man who we met in a mental institution with paranoid schizophrenia, who happens to be the world’s most powerful mutant. Last week, in one of the most amazing episodes of any show I’ve ever seen, David talked himself out of Lenny’s trap, while Syd (Rachel Keller) helped organize the team. It was revealed that Lenny (Aubrey Plaza) is really an evil mutant parasite called The Shadow King that latched onto David as a baby. David trapped Shadow King deep down in the recesses of his mind and right when you thought it safe to take a breath, Division 3 converged on Summerland, led by a scarred Interrogator (Hamish Linklater).

Legion
Episode 1.7 “Chapter 7”
Written by Jennifer Yale
Directed by Dennie Gordon
Created by Noah Hawley & Stan Lee
Starring Dan Stevens, Rachel Keller, Aubrey Plaza, Bill Irwin, Jeremie Harris, Amber Midthunder, Katie Aselton, Jean Smart, Jemaine Clement
FX Network
Air date: March 22th, 2017

This is the penultimate episode of Legion’s first amazing season on FX and that honestly just makes me sad. Last week, we were knee deep in Lenny’s version of hell as she had David and all the Summerland gang locked inside David’s head in a version of the Clockworks mental hospital. In there, David (Dan Stevens) seemed content to be there, but girlfriend Syd (Rachel Keller) wanted out and this drew conflict with Lenny (Aubrey Plaza). Kerry (Amber Midthunder) was having separation anxiety from brother Cary (Bill Irwin) and was being stalked by the uber creepy Eye (Mackenzie Gray). Aubrey Plaza was just unbelievable, stealing every scene she’s in, including an unreal impromptu dance number straight out of a Bond opening sequence. And Dan Stevens shows his range like crazy going from wild powerful maniac in episode to somber mental patient who just wants to be in love. Having just watched Stevens dominate the screen as the Beast in Beauty and the Beast, I’m left wondering if there is anything the man cannot do…

Spoilers below for this week’s episode of Legion:
