SDCC 2017: ‘The Flash’ Trailer and Casting News!
More news rolls in from San Diego Comic Con, this time about everyone’s favorite speedster, Barry Allen and CW’s The Flash. Perhaps the most consistently entertaining and engrossing of the DC(TV)EU, The Flash ended its third season with Barry (Grant Gustin) saving Iris (Candice Patton) from death at the hands of Savitar. Unfortunately, as often happens with Flash’s super speed, space and time were disturbed causing Barry to surrender himself to the Speed Force. Fear not, though as The Flash returns this October for season 4 and according to SDCC 2017, he’ll have new villains and actors to deal with.

In Halloweed, a new horror-comedy from director LazRael Lison, Shannon Brown stars as Trent Modine, the son of the Bridgeport Butcher (Tom Sizemore), an infamous serial killer who’s on death row. To escape the stigma of their father’s legacy and make a better life for themselves, Trent and his idiotic half-brother Joey (Simon Rex) — lured by an infomercial — move to the small town of Mooseheart just in time for Halloween. As luck would have it, the place boasts some awesome weed, which is great for the two stoners, especially Joey, who immediately starts dealing. Unfortunately, this quiet little town also has a haunted reputation thanks to a string of unsolved murders committed long ago by the Candy Corn Killer, who seems to have made a return just as Trent and Joey arrive. Fearing they’ll be blamed for the latests string of murders, the brothers go on a hunt to find the real killer before the locals discover their true identities.

Muppets Most Wanted
Directed by James Bobin
Starring Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell, Tina Fey, Steve Whitmire, and Eric Jacobson
Walt Disney Pictures
Released March 21, 2014
The Muppets are back on the big screen, but does this “sequel” live up to the 2011 film that essentially ignited interest once again in the brand? While Muppets Most Wanted lacks the drama and overwhelming nostalgia of its predecessor, it more than makes up for that in laughs and smiles a plenty. The movie is insanely funny and astute, far from a film that you would want to imprison audiences from seeing.
While initial box office results are more disappointing and middling than encouraging – its opening weekend here in the United States totaled to a mere $17 million – I cannot think of any reason why moviegoers should avoid this genius blend of satire and parody in great Muppet form. It was evident in its marketing, and it translates to the actual film.
