Suicide Squad Review

Aside from the narrative and pacing flaws of Suicide Squad, one thing the film mishandled was the way we saw the Joker (Jared Leto). As much as the marketing campaign hyped the character, we saw very little of the Clown Prince Of Crime. In fact, Leto, who himself was unhappy that there was so very little of him, said he shot enough footage to make his own movie.

Now, a new trailer to help promote the release of the Suicide Squad Extended Edition Blu-ray shows us how much of that Joker footage we were promised, plus a few other scenes that were in the original trailers but gone from the final cut.

Check it out below.

List Of Rumored ‘Suicide Squad’ Cuts Reveals Missing Exposition and More

Suicide Squad Review

Warner Bros. has every reason to celebrate Suicide Squad‘s record-breaking numbers at the box office. In its first weekend, it pulled in $135 million, and that is nothing to scoff at, even with critics widely panning the film – and it seems that bad word of mouth travels fast as Suicide Squad‘s box office saw a 40% Saturday drop, and additional 20% drop on Sunday. Many criticized the film for its poor editing and pacing, and judging by star Jared Leto‘s comments on how much Joker footage was left out of the final cut, there seems to be some truth to the rumors that Warner Bros and Trailer Park (a company that helps cut together movie trailers) reworked David Ayer‘s somber-toned version and turned it into something more fun.

Now a rumored list of what was cut has been revealed, and it shows that there may have been key exposition scenes removed from the final product. Deleted scenes reportedly include Captain Boomerang’s (Jai Courtney) interaction with Katana (Karen Fukuhara); Joker’s mission to “rescue” Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie); a fight between Deadshot (Will Smith) and Enchantress (Cara Delevingne); and another scene with The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Captain Boomerang. Check out the list here below.

Suicide Squad should have been a lot better than this. Much better. Trailers sold us the idea that the film was about bad versus evil, with the bad guys being played by an all-star cast. Then the marketing threw in some awesome music, and the anticipation for DC’s version of the Dirty Dozen only grew. Sure enough, we all thought that this was the one film that the DCEU needed to break the negative streak that it has been on. It has all the right pieces laid out before them to be a great movie. However, maybe we should reserve that hope for another DCEU film because although Suicide Squad isn’t the worst comic book movie ever, it sure as hell one of the most disappointing ones.

Patty Jenkins and Cara Delevingne Respond To Negative ‘Suicide Squad’ Reviews

Cara Delevingne in Suicide Squad

By now you may have heard about the bad reviews surrounding Suicide Squad, and we will, of course, confirm that for ourselves (or at least myself) if it is truly as bad as critics make it out to be. But looking at the behind-the-scenes drama that has gone on (including the fact that there was two different cuts, one of which was made by a trailer company), the film looks to be continuing the DCEU’s slide down being a terrible shared universe franchise. Whether or not the film can save DCEU is up to the general audience. It is tracking for a $140 million opening, so that is something to look forward to but sources say it would have to gross at least $750-$800 million to break even.

While these negative reviews aren’t doing the film or studio any favors, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins and members of the Suicide Squad team such as stars Cara Delevingne and Margot Robbie and director David Ayer are responding to these criticisms and defending the film. But are they merely just campaigning for the film or do they genuinely have good things to say about the film. You decide for yourself below.

Batman’s Connection To David Ayer’s ‘Suicide Squad’

Batman connection to Suicide Squad Batman vs Superman

There has been much rumor and speculation that Batman is in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. Set in the universe that Warner Brothers is establishing, two of the Dark Knight’s most notorious villains, Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and Joker (Jared Leto) are in the film. So it is pretty easy to make the assumption that Batman is in the movie as well because of those connective threads. But no one has confirmed this, which only adds to the rumors.

But one of the most interesting things about Suicide Squad is that the film won’t be just about Batman and The Joker, but also some of DC’s greatest villains. So of course of the biggest questions is, can a film about Batman’s greatest rogue survive without Batman in the film? Well, we probably won’t get an answer to that question, as a new rumor says that Batman is in Suicide Squad, but will be shown in a way never before seen in previous franchises.
