David Spade in Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser

A full official trailer has been released for Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser, the sequel to the 2001 comedy that starred David Spade as the heavily mulleted title character.

The first trailer, a teaser running only 46 seconds, showed far less than this official trailer, which runs over two and a half minutes. The new trailer shows more of the Wizard of Oz-like storyline, in which a now happily married (with children) Joe Dirt gets whisked off by a twister and transported back in time to 1965. Now you want to see a Wizard of Oz remake where Dorothy gets sent to 1965, admit it.

You can read more about Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser and watch the full trailer below. Slight NSFW warning is in effect for language, though instead of being in the R-rated red band trailer zone it’s more of a PG-13…blue band trailer? Yeah, let’s go with that.

Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser Header Image

The first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated by some, not so anticipated by others sequel to David Spade‘s 2001 comedy Joe Dirt has been released online.

The movie, officially titled Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser, will be released on Sony’s free movie and TV show streaming service Crackle sometime this summer. In May of 2014 Spade was talking about trying to make the movie and getting actors from the first movie to return, but that they were aiming to release on Crackle and that meant the budget would be far lower. These budget cuts are apparent in the first teaser, but it still looks like it could be fun for fans of the original.

You can check out the first trailer and a poster for Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser below.

Hotel Transylvania 2 Trailer Image

The first Hotel Transylvania film showed that the most frightening monsters in cinema and literature can be human. Raising a family isn’t easy, especially when there are rebellious teenagers driving you mad.

Hotel Transylvania 2 is a continuation of the first film, and in the first trailer we get to see Dracula (voiced by Adam Sandler) acting like a momma bird by teaching his grandson how to fly by tossing him off a tower in hopes that instinct will kick in and he’ll transform into a bat despite being half human. Of course if you are a fan of the first film, you probably know how this will all end up. Watch the first trailer for Hotel Transylvania 2 after the jump.

David Spade in Joe Dirt

Joe Dirt 2 is full steam ahead, and star David Spade has posted an image of himself back in full Joe Dirt costume to prove it.

It was back in early May that Spade was doing an AMA on Reddit, where he was asked multiple questions regarding a Dirt sequel. At the time it was being developed, with the possibility of becoming the first sequel to a major motion picture to premiere digitally on the free streaming service Crackle, which is owned by Joe Dirt studio Sony. This was later confirmed, and it was all systems go.

You can read more and check out the new image of Spade as Dirt below.

Disney In Depth: 1964, A Definitive Disney Year

Disney In Depth banner

Anniversaries signify dates of a celebratory nature. We reflect on the past and the importance of a milestone. In the Disney universe, certain years warrant attention for the amount of quality content produce and momentous occasions held. Some might argue 1989 was Disney’s biggest year, launching the “Disney renaissance” with the release of The Little Mermaid and also the opening of Disney’s fifth theme park (Disney-MGM Studios). Others would consider 1928 (the debut of Mickey Mouse), 1937 (the release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs), and 1955 (Disneyland’s opening) as equally significant. If we look into the future, 2015 may prove to be Disney’s most monumental year with new films from Lucasfilm, Marvel, Pixar and even a few major releases from Disney itself.

But how can anyone forget or dismiss 1964? This was the definitive Disney year in multiple realms. The events that took place during this 12-month period forever altered the landscape of The Walt Disney Company. 50 years later, I reason that the Disney we treasure today would not exist without the turning points that occurred in 1964.

David Spade in Joe Dirt

It’s safe to say that David Spade‘s 2001 comedy Joe Dirt is not a “good” movie. But that’s never stopped a movie from developing a faithful fan following after its release, usually on home video, and Spade’s simpleton redneck character certainly has one.

The movie made almost $31 million worldwide on a $17.7 million budget, so, paired with said home video success and faithful fan following, it should come as no surprise that a Joe Dirt 2 is being worked on. Doing an AMA on Reddit, Spade was asked about the potential sequel and explained where things stood. He also revealed that, if the movie is made, it could actually be free-to-watch from the start.

Continue below to see what he had to say.

Movie Review: Grown Ups

Grown Ups
Directed by Dennis Dugan
Starring Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade, Rob Schneider
Rated PG-13
Release date: June 25, 2010

If you only see one movie this summer, it would be a smart idea to make it anything other than Grown Ups, the latest film to star Adam Sandler and the usual group of people who seem to rely entirely on Sandler for work.

What rough passes for the plot of the movie is this: A group of friends were all on their grade school basketball team together and won a championship game. Thirty years later, their former coach passes away, and the friends decide to spend a weekend at a cottage on the lake after his funeral. They bring their families, straight from the funeral, and hilarity ensues… right? Not really.

Every single character is a one-trick pony that runs the same joke into the ground repeatedly. Eric (Kevin James) is a family man who tries hard to be a big shot but cannot have a honest conversation about most things. Kurt (Chris Rock) is an emasculated househusband who likes to cook, but only so much that it’s mentioned once early in the film. Marcus (David Spade) is a sex-hungry womanizer. Rob (Rob Schneider) is a new-age dimwit who likes much older women. Then there’s Lenny (Adam Sandler) who’s rich, successful, and great at sports all while being surprisingly humble and down-to-Earth about it all.
