Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Of the many problems that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice had the one that unphased me was the idea that Batman killed. The Dark Knight has been portrayed in the comics and animated series as a person who doesn’t kill, in fact at times he refuses to do so. Though there are some times where you can argue that he killed characters indirectly.

But when it comes to Batman (Ben Affleck) in Dawn of Justice, the Dark Knight seemed to have killed criminals with no restraint. This did not sit well with some fans, and director Zack Snyder made a few arguments that showed when and where Batman has killed in media. Now there is a new video that shows how many people Batman killed in the movie. So place your bets, and guess what the number is before checking out the video below.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Image 06

It’s hard to argue that Jeremy Irons was one of the best parts of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with him spending most of his time with another strong part of the film, Ben Affleck – who also co-wrote the script with fellow Argo writer Chris Terrio. With everything else pretty much a mess, it was hard to see the cast have to answer questions about the flaws and criticisms, especially Affleck who didn’t look all too pleased. But now that we are passed all of that and Justice League: Part One is starting to shoot, it is interesting to hear what the cast really has to say about the film.

Now Irons is opening up about how Batman v Superman deserves all the criticism it got after its release, but he remains optimistic about Justice League: Part One. More on the story below.

NYCC 2015: Kevin Smith

The critics and audience have spoken, and while the former didn’t like it as much as the latter, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was the number one film at the box office. This wouldn’t be the first time that there was a huge disparity between audiences and critics, and it won’t be the last. You’ve already seen our review of the film. And now celebrities are voicing their opinions on it. But one of them may come as a huge surprise.

Following his hosting duties on the DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League special on The CW with DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, Kevin Smith has expressed some of his disappointment in BvS, saying that it lacked joy and that there is a “fundamental lack of understanding of what those characters are about.” See what else he had to say below.

‘Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ Will Have An Unnecessary R-Rated “Ultimate Edition”

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Image 03

PG-13 superhero films are cut and edited in such a way that it will appeal to the masses. Unlike Deadpool, whose R rating didn’t allow for families to bring their young kids to enjoy the foul-mouthed trigger-happy mercenary. But that didn’t necessarily stop the film from being a huge hit at the box office two weeks in a row. And of course following such a success, you’ll see a couple of studios try to mimic it, without having a clue about what makes an R-rated comic book superhero film really work, as Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn bluntly put it earlier last week.

Now comes word that Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice is getting its own R-rated cut that will be released exclusively on home theater. But is the “Ultimate Edition” of the film really something to get excited over, or is it just another excuse to sell more copies of Blu-rays and DVDs or get more digital downloads?

Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice Trailer Doomsday

2016 will see two movies about two legendary heroes at odds and forced to fight each other by some outside force. It’s a bit perplexing as to why WB didn’t release the trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice during their Flash and Arrow annual crossover episode and decided to debut the trailer during Jimmy Kimmel Live, which airs on ABC, a Disney owned network, but I digress. The fact of the matter is, we are getting a new trailer for Dawn of Justice, and after a lackluster teaser, and a fairly descent Comic-Con trailer, this latest one will surely have comic book fans (yes even the Marvel ones) excited for this one.

Check out the latest trailer for the film below.

Joker and Red Hood May Give Ben Affleck Problems In Batman Solo Film

Batman v Superman robin

One of the biggest (and most ominous) Easter Eggs to appear in the most recent Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer was the Robin suit that was covered in graffiti, which said “Hahaha Joke’s On You Batman.” Seeing that, some would speculate that the Joker had killed Robin (presumably Jason Todd) before the events of the film, maybe even before Man of Steel. While we cannot set a timeline, this Easter Egg may tell us that the next Batman film (which may or may not be directed by Ben Affleck) could be based on the Red Hood storyline, where Jason Todd is killed by the Joker, only to be brought back to life where he sought out vengeance against Batman for letting the mass-murdering Joker live.

Now there seems to be some weight to this theory as a new rumor has popped up saying that the Red Hood and Joker could make an appearance in the untitled Batman film. More on the story below.

Ben Affleck as Batman

Love it or hate it, it appears that Ben Affleck is set to dive headfirst into world of Batman. It’s being reported that Affleck will not only star as the Dark Knight in the next standalone movie whenever it gets made, but that he’ll also be directing it and co-writing it along with the help of DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns.

Back on June 19th there was a rumor that a new Batman standalone movie could be on the way in 2019, despite not yet being mentioned on Warner Brothers possible DC movies released schedule for the next few years.
