Depeche Mode

Ten wildly diverse and eclectic records are available for free listens right now. Two that stand out from the pack are the newest record by synth-pop/light industrial/electro kings Depeche Mode, who have making records for over three decades now, and the 1980s-esque with a few tricks up their sleeve sonic musings of The Strokes.

The Depeche Mode album, titled Delta Machine — on sale March 26th — is summed up by their songwriter/guitarist Martin Gore as a kind of hybrid of arguably the band’s most popular records, Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion. On Delta Machine, with its cutting buzzsaw style guitar lines, heavy synths, and drum machines, which sport breathlessly complex yet accessible back beats and raw vocals by David Gahan, mixed with a shiny, ominously strong weight of a production, should satisfy the hardcore fans who have following the band for years and might even get a few new converts to the band in the process.

Depeche Mode Violator

As part of Amazon’s monthly $5 MP3 album deals for July 2012, Depeche Mode‘s Violator is on sale for only $5.

Even though Depeche Mode has been around since 1980, their music still sounds fresh and alive with new wave electro-pop pleasure (and just the right amount of tortured soul). Originally released in 1990, Violator was digitally remastered and re-released in 2006. Included on this album are such well-worn favorites as “Personal Jesus,” “Enjoy the Silence,” and “Policy of Truth.”

Browse all 100 albums on sale this month for only $5 each, as well as several albums on sale this week for only $2.99.
