No surprise here: One of the coolest dudes that ever lived had one of the coolest houses and a killer home studio. Ten years after the senseless murder of Pantera and Damageplan guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott, Guitar World is giving fans a glimpse inside his house and home recording studio.

The grounds are like a time capsule, appearing not to have been touched since Dime last walked out of the place. Highlights of the video include a tour of the guitar vault and a look at the original styrofoam cutout that the man himself made for the prototype shape of his signature Dean guitars. We even get a look inside the home’s Slayer-themed “Slaytanic Shitter” bathroom.

Pantera was indisputably the most massive metal band of the ’90s, carrying the torch of metal through the grunge years and carving out a sound that was all their own. Today, on the 10th anniversary of the senseless murder of guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott at the hands of a deranged fan, we salute the force of nature that was Pantera and remember a fallen brother. A two-disc 20th Anniversary Edition of Pantera‘s Far Beyond Driven will be released by Rhino on March 25, 2014, and is available for pre-order now.

The album, which was the band’s seventh studio offering, debuted in 1994 at #1 on the Billboard chart — an amazing feat for a metal record — and then stayed on the chart for seven more months. Following in the crushing aural assault of their previous record, 1992’s Vulgar Display of Power, Far Beyond Driven contains the standout tracks “I’m Broken,” “5 Minutes Alone,” “Strength Beyond Strength,” “Becoming,” and a cover of Black Sabbath’s Planet Caravan all performed by singer Philip Anselmo, guitarist Dimebag Darrell, bassist Rex Brown, and drummer Vinnie Paul.

It’s hard to overstate Pantera’s influence on the heavy metal landscape.
