Doctor Strange

Two years after the Sorcerer Supreme (Benedict Cumberbatch) made his cinematic debut, it’s been announced that Doctor Strange is officially getting a sequel.

Not only that, but Scott Derrickson, the first film’s director, is said to be back to helm for the sequel. More on the report below.

Marvel Doctor Strange

Marvel Studios has a bit of a habit of announcing sequels before the release of the first film. That being said, it would look like things are in a holding pattern for Doctor Strange. Though the film was a commercial success, it was met with mixed reviews. That being said, the title character is still an important thread in the Marvel Cinematic Universe tapestry. So, of course, Doctor Strange 2 would be in order. And now it looks like one is actually happening. At least, according to Kevin Feige. Check out what he had to say here below.

Marvel Doctor Strange

Marvel Studios likes to announce sequels to their movies before or after a film’s release. Whenever it’s the former, it’s because the film is tracking well or got a very warm reception from critics who saw it early. Whenever it’s the latter, it’s because the film did really well at the box office. But it’s different for Doctor Strange. While the film did well at the box office, it wasn’t one of the studio’s best efforts. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t get a sequel, but the fact that it was so successful and the studio hasn’t announced one yet is, well, strange.

Now Doctor Strange screenwriter C. Robert Cargill is talking a little bit about the sequel and his plans for what we could see in it, including the villains and more. See what he had to say below.

The Ancient One and Doctor Strange

In the comics, Marvel’s Illuminati made their debut in The New Avengers Vol.1 #7 in 2005. Formed after the events of the Kree-Skrull war, the United Nation of superheroes consisted of Sorcerer Supreme himself Doctor Strange; Black Bolt, King of the Inhumans; Charles Xavier, founder of the X-Men and mutant-rights activist; Reed Richards, founding member of the Fantastic Four; Namor the Sub-Mariner, King of Atlantis; and Iron Man (Anthony Stark), founding member of the Avengers.

With Doctor Strange hitting theaters in just a few weeks, fans will be interested in seeing if the group will form in the MCU. But as exciting as that sounds, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige says we shouldn’t get our hopes up and that they’re taking things one step at a time. Check out what he had to say below.
