We’ve already seen a cinematic trailer for the game and many goodies will be shared in the coming weeks, but to kick things off, we have some new information about the game and the first ever peek at some gameplay action.

The footage is only pre-alpha in a pair of behind-the-scenes peeks at the project, but it is the first look we’ve had at the actual game, and that’s exciting for fans of the series (or at least the amazing first game). Dragon Age III: Inquisition Image

Finally! After a lengthy wait, the very first trailer for the much anticipated sequel to Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II has finally arrived.

BioWare officially announced Dragon Age III: Inquisition last September after a long period of rumors that the Mass Effect creators were hard at work on the game. Not much has been heard since then, not until now, when the first trailer was released.

As always, the first trailer is only cinematic; but it does include some familiar faces and a good peek at what we can expect to be dealing with in the game. Which is, of course: terrifying alien creature thingys raining down from the damn sky!

Check out the first trailer for Dragon Age III: Inquisition below now!

BioWare Aiming To Combine The Best Of Two Worlds For ‘Dragon Age 3’

If there’s one thing that Mass Effect and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game studio BioWare doesn’t get enough credit for, it’s taking what their fans say to heart, and using that feedback to try and improve future installments of their various franchises.

This commendable effort doesn’t always pay off, however, as was the case with Dragon Age 2, the follow–up to their awesome fantasy title, Dragon Age: Origins. While the game had a lot of positives to offer and was still a solid play, some things were just too distracting to ignore, such as a mind–boggling amount of recycled locations and a combat system that “evolved” from strategic and satisfying to an chaotic mess of button–mashing madness (if you were a warrior, anyway).

When it comes to Dragon Age 3, the game isn’t even officially announced yet, but that’s not stopping BioWare from planning ahead and figuring how to make it the best in the series.

Everyone knows Felicia Day as the creator of the ultra-popular web-series, The Guild, and as one of the great Geek Goddesses of this Earth of ours. She’s also known from her work on things like Joss Whedon’s hit show and musical Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.

Now, after offering her voice to a role in Fallout: New Vegas, Day is stepping back into the realms of video games. It’s been announced that the actress will star in a six-episode web series based on the highly successful BioWare titles Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II.

The live-action series, titled Dragon Age: Redemption, will also be set in Ferelden, where Day will play an original character named Tallis. Of her character, Day said “Tallis is headstrong, she fights dirty, and she has a really sarcastic sense of humor,” she says. “I wanted to bring a modern sensibility to a fantasy character in a fantasy world.”

Geek Discussion: What The Hell Is Wrong With Our Video Game Text Sizes?
space
The Movie God   |  @   |

This is a topic that has been itching at me for a decent amount of time now, but I’ve tried to store it away and forget about it. This, as we all know, is not very healthy. So with that, it’s time to vent off about this progressively glaring situation and allow all of you a place to sound off.

For those of you who are unaware, a disturbing trend has become the norm when picking up a brand new video game. Imagine waiting one, two, maybe three years for an exciting new game or massive sequel, and when we finally get it in our hands it’s like Christmas morning. Now imagine gently placing your new game into your console, firing it up, and preparing to set off on a new adventure…only to discover that you can’t read the words on the screen. This is what has been going on more often than anyone has the stomach to handle.

In these many titles the text is so small, that reading them comfortable is impossible. The words aren’t completely illegible as many claim, but in order to read, you have to be fairly close and sometimes can find yourself staring blankly at a word, trying to figure out what it is (Click image just once for basic idea of what the font is like to read for me personally). Now I’m no genius, but when you have to decrypt an unencrypted word, SOMETHING has to be broken somewhere along the line, right?

Game Review: Dragon Age: Origins (Playstation 3)

Dragon Age: Origins, Playstation 3Dragon Age: Origins
Platform: Playstation 3
Developer: Bioware
Publisher: EA
Release Date: November 2, 2009

I’ve never played too many American developed RPG’s before, I’m much more of a Japanese RPG fan, but I needed a game to fill the time before Final Fantasy XIII came out, so I decided to pick up Dragon Age: Origins for my PS3. Am I happy with my purchase? Well, more or less. The game has some flaws to it, but there are also good points as well, and there’s plenty to do in the game, so I feel like at least I got my money’s worth.

Dragon Age takes place in a pretty standard fantasy realm. There are dwarves and elves and magic and as the title says, dragons. You take the role of a Gray Warden, one of the last of a group of people who defend the land from the demonic swarms of the dark spawn. After a political coup disrupts the land, you must travel around and unite an army in order to find the oncoming menace. That’s more or less the basic plot for the game, and if you’ve ever wanted a video game based on George RR Martin’s Song of Fire and Ice this is pretty close to it. The story is certainly one of the high points of the game. It’s very strong and there are a lot of interesting characters that you will want to follow. There are almost too many interesting characters, because I found myself wanting to see how every one of the playable characters reacted to the events of the story, but you can only see the reactions of three of the characters at a time.

Holiday Geek Gift Guide ’09: Video Game Edition

Holiday Geek Gift Guild: Game EditionOne of the most exciting things to receive as a gift on Christmas is video games. For me personally, nothing beats the morning I was given the Sega Genesis system I never thought I would possibly get, and playing Sonic’s elusive blue hide right into the ground. And even though that childlike joy will never be experienced again for me, and video game systems are a whole lot different and more expensive these days, it’s still exciting to open up a new video game you haven’t played yet.

To try and help some of you create this joy for your video game playing loved ones, we wanted to create a list of 2009’s best and most-desired game titles. These are the games that most people are going to want if they don’t have them yet, and these are the games that have made the most impact. Obviously you’ll want to make sure they don’t have specific titles in mind, but for the most part, this is where to start reading up on and shopping for video game gift ideas.

Click on over to the other side to check out our very own Holiday Gift Guide: Video Game Edition ’09 for selections to play on Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 game consoles, as well as on your PC.

And don’t procrastinate! No one enjoys last second shopping or the hell that is your local mall a few days before Christmas!
