ROCKETMAN Elton John biopic

Biopics can cover a wide range of the subject ranging from a specific time that defined them to their entire life. In Rocketman, Taron Egerton will portray Elton John in a musical fantasy that is “based on a true fantasy.” Of course, there will be musical numbers in it, but based on the trailer there will be so much more to it.

Check out the teaser trailer here below.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Kingsman: The Golden Circle
Director: Matthew Vaughn
Screenwriter: Gary Dauberman
Cast: Colin Firth, Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Sophie Cookson, Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Elton John, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, Jeff Bridges
Distributor: 20th Century Fox
Rated R | 141 Minutes
Release Date: September 22, 2017

When getting a sequel, you’d expect something on a larger scale, something more epic than its predecessor. And a lot of times, a sequel can deliver on just that. But then there are those times where it just falls short or just stays the course. Kingsman: The Golden Circle is pretty much the latter. The film, which prides itself in dressing in sharply tailored suits, adds nothing new to the franchise. It’s same shop, same tailor, same pocket square, same tie, just a different knot. But it tries to add new elements by introducing the Statesman – the American version of the Kingsman but with more Stars and Stripes aesthetics.

But with barely any stakes and an eccentric villain with a lack of originality, Kingsman: The Golden Circle doesn’t do much of anything but put on the same exact suit, but with a different color and a different tie knot. My full review below.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle Trailer

Last week we saw a high-speed first look tease for the sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service, titled Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Though no information was given on when we might see a real trailer, it was assumed that one was coming soon.

These assumptions were correct, as 20th Century Fox has released the first official trailer for the movie. This time around, the Kingsman group finds themselves joining forces with an ally spy organization in America called Statesman.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle

20th Century Fox has released a high-speed first look teaser for Kingsman: The Golden Circle, the sequel to the surprise 2014 hit Kingsman: The Secret Service.

Like any trailer teaser the video is very short, running only 15 seconds long. Unlike most trailer teasers, however, this one presents the footage in rapid-fire, subliminal message-like flashes. There’s also no mention of when we’ll see an actual trailer, interestingly enough, which is usually the whole point of a trailer tease. Though to be fair, the video is dubbed “The Ultimate Breakdown,” and makes no promises of a trailer. Still, it’s safe to assume one is coming soon.

You can find the first Kingsman: The Golden Circle teaser below.

Channing Tatum Is Joining The Cast Of ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’

Channing Tatum

The gleefully violent, vulgar, and witty spy spoof Kingsman: The Secret Service, based on the comic series The Secret Service created by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, was destined to get a sequel after grossing $414 million at the global box office last year. Luckily for us fans of the film, writer-director Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class), his writing partner Jane Goldman (Stardust, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children), and newcomer leading man Taron Egerton (Eddie the Eagle, Legend) will all be returning for the sequel, which is now going by the name Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

It now appears as if a Hollywood heavy-hitter is preparing to join the colorful, globe-trotting mayhem as 21 Jump Street and Magic Mike star Channing Tatum has signed on to play an unspecified role.

$5 MP3 Album Deal: ‘The Best Of The 1970s’ Millennium Collection

Best of the 70s Millennium Collection

The Best of the 1970’s, part of The 20th Century Masters Millennium Collection, is now available on MP3 format from Amazon this month for only $5.00. (The CD is currently $6.77 and is an AutoRip, which means with the CD purchase you’ll also get a FREE MP3 download of the entire album.)

At first quick glance, with its garishly colored cover, replete with appropriate 70s-esque font and the silhouetted shot of bell-bottomed people “getting down,” one would think that this album spans the disco/kitschy end of the 1970’s spectrum, but not so with this collection. Spanning from 1970 (with Edwin Scott’s urgent, explosive plea for ending global combat with the funky “War”) to 1976 (Nice Guy Finishes First guitar virtuoso Peter Frampton doing the voice box vox on the pop classic “Show Me The Way”), The Best of the 70’s contains 12 songs that run the gamut that while were hits and remain for the most part radio and pop cultural classics, (Rod Stewart’s lovely and pendulum swing of folk and rock blends “Maggie May,” Three Dog Night’s anthemic “Joy to the World,” Southern Fried Rock with Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama,” or the political yet accessible to all “Wild World” and “What’s Going On”, by Cat Stevens and Marvin Gaye respectively) are also finely crafted slices of a musical era where things were reflected by a time in history that was still hungover from the fallout of a 1960s that pushed and pushed and pushed. By the time most of these songs were released, those times were rife with a sort of a collective impotence, but the music retained and foraged a vitality that made it memorable and a perfect aural reflection of a decade that on the surface seemed carefree and innocuous, but in reality, was anything but. Kind of like the music.

$5 MP3 Album Deal: Elton John ‘Greatest Hits Volume 2’

Elton John

Greatest Hits Volume 2, a fine offering of musical selections from the midpoint of the illustrious 1970’s career of Elton John, is now available on MP3 format from Amazon this month for only $5.00.

By 1977, Elton John could do no wrong as a pop superstar. Coming off of a string of number one and top ten successes via albums and singles, he was in full titanic form in every way: smashing successes on his tours, albums which flew off the shelves, making statements to the press which he toyed with his sexuality to the delight of the young post-glam fans who themselves had already gleaned heroes of pseudo-androgyny by way of David Bowie and Lou Reed, and it created an appeal that was worldwide and stretched many fan bases. By the release of this second collection of his greatest hits, it arguably was the closing point of the first dazzling chapter of the man’s unbridled, highly conquered string of successes, as evidenced by original songs (penned by John and long-time collaborator Bernie Taupin) like “Tiny Dancer,” “The Bitch is Back,” the ode to tennis star Billie Jean King with “Philadelphia Freedom,” “Island Girl,” the majestic and emotionally charged tracks “Levon” and “Someone Saved My Life Tonight” and covers of The Who’s “Pinball Wizard” and The Beatles’ “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds,” which even sports John Lennon on rhythm guitar and background vocals. Essential stuff that not only puts one right back into the 1970s zeitgeist, but into Elton John’s as well.
