Flash Gordon: Zeitgeist #8 focuses almost exclusively on one of the most underrated characters in the Flash Gordon mythos – Dr Hans Zarkov. Now, we could argue that Zarkov is the one who’s responsible for the whole situation that Flash and company are in, but that’s besides the point.

Writers Eric Trautmann and Alex Ross take a time out from the nonstop action to give us a pretty cool character study in this issue. Turns out, Hans Zarkov is a pretty interesting guy. Honestly, you only get a couple panels of the other characters, but this issue is about Zarkov trying to outwit Ming’s control that he has over the device that can get them all home. I LOVE the back story that the writers gave the character. It really lets you know how and why he came to be in the circumstances that he’s in in the beginning of the series. Not only that, but it’s really interesting. And a good, solid story. They also manage to sneak in a good amount of action.

Each and every week “Heel Heat” MK2Fac3 and “No Show” Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of their pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of March 28, 2012. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

My Henchman is on sabbatical this week, so I’ve decided to go solo. If H21 were here, though, I’m sure he’d ramble on about a variety of comics, but he’s not. So, get over it! But enough of all that! I wanted to address to important items that are on my radar this week. Firstly, it’s the week after my birthday and none of you got me anything! I’m so incredibly disappointed in each and every one of you. I spend my time giving you something entertaining to read and this is how you repay me!? In the words of the legendary The Iron Sheik, “::expletive deleted::!” Goodness gracious alive, folks! Anyway, on to the next item on the docket, it’s Wrestlemania week! Everyone celebrate! YAY! CM Punk is going to beat Chris Jericho and that’s a fact, Jack! Oh yeah, this feature is about comics…. Here’s this week’s The GoD List!

Release Date: January 4th, 2012

Wow. I didn’t think it was possible that Flash Gordon: Zeitgeist #2 could get any better or more exciting than the first issue. Yet, the creative team proved me wrong. I think it’s a secret plot by them and Dynamite to get us all to wet our pants with excitement. And, it’s working.

If licensed comics got the respect they deserved, writer Eric Trautman would be a superstar. The writing on this book is unbelievable. The action starts inside the front cover and doesn’t stop until the last page. Just like last issue, Trautman packs SO MUCH into each page and panel that you’re going to want to read this issue a couple of times just to make sure you’ve gotten everything there is to get.

Each and (almost) every week “Mr. Fifth Di-WTF is he talking about-mension” MK2Fac3 and “Mr. I’m Too Pretty For Formatting” Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Happy New Year, lads and lasses! In just a short amount of days, I’ll be sailing the seven seas, but let’s catch up for a moment. How did you spend your New Year’s Eve and Day? Did you eat your good luck charms? Did you spend the holidays drunk and hungover? That’s neat. I spent mine laying in bed with an illness that can only be described as velociraptor-esque. But I can tell you one thing, I cracked the code of the fifth dimension. It’s simple, you see. Because the fifth dimension is what determines our very existence. It’s all based on words. Words define our lives because without language and words, we would not be able to communicate. Well, maybe we could through art? Who knows, I was running a fever and hallucinating. Either way, though, comics consist of both art and words, so it’s the perfect medium! You know what I’m saying? GoD List. Baller cakes.

So, how was everyone’s Thanksgiving, huh? Did you get all full on your family dinners? Was it a lot of fun? Did you go out and shop at midnight on Black Friday? Or maybe you waited by your computer for all the Amazon Black Friday deals! I’ll bet that was a blast! Well, get over it! It’s a new week and hardly anything is coming out, so you can either be thankful that you don’t have to spend that much money this week, or you could head over to look at our Amazon wish lists and get US something! You ever think of that?? Sorry folks, I’m bitter and grumpy because I haven’t slept in days. Our editor has chained me to my laptop and it’s burning my arms. Make it stop!
