Geoff Johns To Write Green Lantern Corps

The long-gestating Green Lantern Corps hasn’t been in the news much since it was announced at Comic-Con a few years back. Since then, we’ve seen very little of the character in the DCEU. In fact, one lantern made an appearance in the opening sequence of Justice League. But Green Lantern Corps is just one of the many titles to be announced in recent years. Unfortunately, Justice League‘s poor box office performance, forced Warner Bros. to rethink their plans for the DCEU. This included revamping the creative forces behind it. And now it looks like there will be even more changes. But they will be positive ones.

Reports are saying Geoff Johns, who was the head of DC Entertainment, will be stepping down from his position. He will, however, be staying at WB and stick close to DC. That’s because Johns will be launching his own production company, Mad Ghost Productions, within the studio all the while writing the script for the Green Lantern Corps movie. Justice League

The DCEU ended the year on a very sour note. Despite Wonder Woman being a critical and commercial hit, grossing $821.8 million worldwide, the film was followed up by Justice League, an all-star DC superhero film that failed to meet box office expectations and was panned by a majority of critics. The latter only grossed a meager $651 million. And as a result of the film’s poor performance, and reports of the film proving to be a huge financial loss, the studio was forced to go through some major restructuring.

Now we are beginning to see those moves starting with the hiring of Walter Hamada, one of the executives behind the massively successful The Conjuring horror movies made by Warner Bros.’ New Line division. More on the story below.

Warner Bros. Revamping DC Movie Creative Forces After ‘Justice League’ Underperforms

Justice League

It was pretty inevitable that Warner Bros. would be making an executive decision in the wake of Justice League‘s lackluster box office performance. The numbers don’t lie — the film won’t be making a profit. At least not anytime soon. Not with the millions that went into those reshoots and marketing. That being said, the studio had to do something in order to right the ship, which by all accounts, was sinking, and sinking fast.

And that is exactly what they are doing. In a major shakeup, WB is removing key figures from their current positions and is considering merging DC movies into the studio’s main film production arm. More on the story here below.

Geek Peek: First Look At ‘Aquaman’ Will Make You Want To Hit The Gym

Aquaman title card image header

One of the biggest problems for Justice League was introducing three new heroes to the DC superhero universe. This did not give much room for any narrative or exposition as the ensemble film had to squeeze out time to give some origin stories to The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. However, all will be getting standalone origin stories of their own. At least we hope. But one that is for certain is Aquaman.

The film will see Jason Momoa reprise his role as Arthur Curry, the half-man half-Atlantean who is trying to figure out his place on land and in the ocean. Now we have our first look at the upcoming superhero film, which is being directed by James Wan (The Conjuring). Check out the first look here below.

Warning! Spoilers below for all parts of The CW Crossover, including tonight’s episode of The Flash!

So far, on Crisis on Earth-X, all of the heroes and legends converged on Central City to attend the wedding of Barry and Iris (Grant Gustin, Candice Patton). Of course, happiness can’t happen without hitches and glitches, so Nazis invaded the ceremony, led by evil Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), evil Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), and the original Eobard Thawne wearing a Wells (Tom Cavanagh) face. They came from Earth-X, the 53rd earth where the Nazis won WWII. The plan? Save dying evil Supergirl by taking the heart of our Kara. Some cool battles ensued, but our heroes were left in a Nazi prison at the end of Arrow last night.

Spoilers below.
