2017 Golden Globes Jimmy Fallon Justin Timberlake

Jimmy Fallon opened the 2017 Golden Globes as wonderfully as I knew he would – with a song and a dance and many many guests. It was almost 5 minutes of smiles with a La-La Land “City of Stars” parody, complete with dancing on cars.

Check out the opening number below.

The 2017 Golden Globe nominations were announced this morning, and as expected there were plenty of surprises and a few snubs. La La Land took home seven nominations, including Best Picture (Motion Picture Musical or Comedy) Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Song. Among the biggest surprises is Ryan Reynolds for his performance in Deadpool, and Sing Street. There were a few snubs as well, which included Natalie Portman in Jackie and Denzel Washington in Fences, as well as Finding Dory not getting a nom for Best Animated feature (although Disney did get two other films in). Ricky Gervais to host the 2016 Golden Globes

Sure it has been fun to see Tina Fey and Amy Poehler cut loose during the Golden Globes, but after a three-year run, this year’s awards ceremony was to be their last as hosts. They’re a pretty tough act to follow, but the two actually came after Ricky Gervais, who had his own three-year stint at hosting the awards show with his own brand of humor. So how could anyone follow those three up? Well, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) seems to have solved that problem as they have gone back to Gervais, and confirmed that he will be returning to host the Golden Globes in 2016. More on the story below.

Golden Globes 2015 Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader

The 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony aired live on Sunday night, January 11, 2015, from Beverly Hills, CA, where we saw Richard Linklater’s Boyhood dominate the film drama category and Michael Keaton and his latest film Birdman top the comedy film area, while in TV, Showtime’s The Affair, FX’s Fargo, and Amazon’s Transparent took home multiple Globes. (Check out the full list of 2015 Golden Globe winners here.)

The ceremony, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for their third and final time, had a lot of great moments – some funny, some poignant, some noteworthy. There was the hilarious opening by the hosts, another classic Benedict Cumberbatch photobomb, a lot of George Clooney love, and much more, including several references to the recent threats on the entertainment community from North Korea and the murders at the Charlie Hebdo offices in France.

See below for some highlights from the 2015 Golden Globe Awards ceremony.

Tina Fey Amy Poehler Golden Globes 2015 promo

Tonight marked Tina Fey and Amy Poehler‘s return to NBC for their third and final time hosting the Golden Globe Awards ceremony. Leading up to the event, the former SNL cast mates said they wouldn’t be holding back on the jokes this year and that everyone was a potential target.

As expected Bill Cosby, who’s been in the news a lot lately for allegations of rape, was on the chopping block as both comediennes did spot-on impressions of the comedian and JELL-O pudding pusher. Other celebrities highlighted in the opening were actor George Clooney and his activist lawyer wife Amal Alamuddin Clooney, as well as Wes Anderson, Emma Stone, Matthew McConaughey, and as usual, fellow SNL alum Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Watch Fey and Poehler’s entire opening monologue from the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards here below.
