‘Grindhouse’ Born ‘Hobo With A Shotgun’ Gets A Messy NSFW Trailer

The Movie God   |  @   |

You all remember Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s little co-venture, the old school exploitation-style double-feature, Grindhouse, correct? Some loved it, some hated it, and we all moved on. The thing about it that has since evolved, however, are the faux trailers created by famous filmmakers to surround the production and help give it that authentic b-movie bonanza vibe.

What you may NOT know, is that some other trailers were made for Grindhouse as well, and one of them was called Hobo With A Shotgun. The trailer was created by Jason Eisener and won a contest at the South by Southwest film festival for best trailer, and while it wasn’t included in every print of Grindhouse, it did run in theaters up in Canada (where the director is from).

Put down what you’re doing, grab some soap for after, and click on over to check out this dirty little treat and the original fake trailer immediately. Be WARNED: these are very NSFW trailers and contains a whole lot of graphic content that would surely send your nearest soccer mom into a vicious frenzy.

First Official Trailer For Robert Rodriguez’s ‘Machete’ Released

Machete

The first official trailer for Robert Rodriguez‘s grindhouse flick Machete has safely landed on the internet. The movie was born from Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s dual-effort, Grindhouse, where Machete made a cameo as one of the many faux trailers used to set the tone as an old school double feature.

The movie is co-directed by Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis, and tells the story of a Mexican Federale gun (or blade)-for-hire who’s brought in to do a job that turns out to be a major setup. Eventually he recovers and sets off for bloody revenge. What more do you need than that, really?

Continue on over to check out the trailer now.

Game Review: ‘WET’
space
The Movie God   |  @   |
space

Wet Xbox 360WET
ESRB Rating: M for Mature
Platform: Xbox 360
Developer: A2M (Artificial Mind and Movement)
Publisher: Bethesda Softworks
Release Date: September 15, 2009

The new game from publisher Bethesda — the brilliant developers of classics like The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout 3 — and developer A2M, WET is a game that immediately grabs your eye when you see it. Its look of pure Grindhouse-esq exploitation cinema of the 70s leads you to believe that you’re about to play a Quentin Tarantino movie, and whether you ultimately like the game or not, that alone is worth giving it a fair go.

WET follows Rubi Malone (Eliza Dushku), a bad-ass problem solver who gets what needs to be done, done…so long as the price is right. The game opens with her chasing down a man who steals what she was paid to acquire, which leads to an epic chase right off the gun that ends in a freeway car chase that would bring a tear to the eye of Michael Bay. As it turns out, the item she was paid to retrieve is a human heart that would save the man who hired you’s father. A year later, this man (Malcolm McDowell) comes back to thank her for the heart, and to hire her for another job: to find and bring back his AWOL son. This job sets off a chain of events that are a little too spoilery to share here, but let us just say that Rubi isn’t thrilled about how things go, and many, many, many, many people die because of it.

When you play this one, fair warning to all: do not expect a great storyline with complex characters and situations. No, this game isn’t made to be that at all; it is made to be a stylistic action game where you rampage your way through an unbelievable amount of people to get to the bottom of things. One might think this would quickly come repetitive, and they would be right at some points. But for some strange reason, even though it is repetitive at times, it never became boring. The reason is most likely in the variety of methods to accomplish each situation. Considering that Rubi is one of the deadliest women ever seen this side of Kill Bill‘s the Bride, the ways to end someone standing in your way’s life are bountiful.

Click on over for more of the review and for a trailer.

‘Black Dynamite’ R-Rated Trailer
space
Ryan Midnight   |

Black DynamiteWhen the Tarantino/Rodriguez double-feature Grindhouse hit theaters last year, the sudden “popularity” of the term unleashed a fury of bargain basement DVD releases of forgotten films, including a few gems but mostly titles which should have remain forgotten, by companies looking to make a fast buck. Would-be filmmakers across the nation took to their backyard to create their own faux trailers to emulate those created for the intermission of Grindhouse. Plans sputtered along to turn Don’t, Werewolf Women Of The SS, and Thanksgiving into full-length movies, Eli Roth threatened to make a movie of nothing but fake trailers, and Machete was put on the fast track to become a full-length movie.

But while watching Grindhouse, which is an absolutely fantastic ride, there is this little irritating voice in the back of the mind which can’t help but notice that for all the added on scratches, sound pops, and jump cuts to recreate a bygone era of moviemaking, both films still look incredibly modern. Now, prepare yourself for Scott Sanders who has thrown down the gauntlet with Black Dynamite!

The Ladies of ‘Grindhouse’ Exposed

The Geeks of Doom   |  @   |

Rolling Stone: McGowan and DawsonRose McGowan and Rosario Dawson bare their bods for this month’s issue of Rolling Stone magazine.

This month’s Rolling Stone magazine cover features Rosario Dawson and Rose McGowan of the upcoming flick Grindhouse clad in nothing but a strategically placed belt of bullets.

This issue, which contains the cover story Girl-on-Girl Action: Rose McGowan and Rosario Dawson fire up the “Grindhouse” (how’s that for a title?), is on newsstands only until April 19, 2007.

Meanwhile, overheard at the Doom offices:

Their butts are touching … and with my approval.

Can I borrow your belt?

There’s nothing “bad” about people who are as neurotic and self-obsessed as these two must be to be so freakishly thin. No thanks.

That’s kinda hoochie.

If I looked like them, I’d show my near-naked, bulleted bod to the world, too.

What happened to McGowan’s nose?

The return of Spring usually means many things… but Rolling Stone cover cheesecake of this sort usually returns during summer. Me, I just much rather see the movie.
