DOOM Eternal

I’m always a little bit behind during E3 week, but thanks to a major internet malfunction I lost most of yesterday. But hey, what can you do. Get back to it as soon as possible and try to catch up. Right then…where were we?

Another game Bethesda showed off for E3 2019 was DOOM Eternal, developer id Software’s sequel to the 2016 reboot of the hit demon-slaying first-person shooter franchise. For the convention, Bethesda shared a new story trailer and a multiplayer teaser for the game’s “Battlemode.”

You can find more info on DOOM Eternal and watch both of these trailers below.

Announce Trailer and Gameplay Video For ‘RAGE 2’ Released

RAGE 2

Back in 2011 a game called RAGE was released, which came from DOOM and Quake developer id Software and publisher Bethesda Softworks. Bethesda already has a post-apocalyptic franchise in Fallout, but this game was more of a Mad Max or Borderlands type of post-apocalyptic caused by an asteroid hitting the planet instead of a bunch of nuclear warheads.

While it was an enjoyable game for the most part, it also proved to be pretty forgettable as well. It’s not a game people talk about much, if at all. For that reason, it was a little bit surprising to find out that RAGE 2 is on the way. id Software is once again working on the game but this time they’re joined by a second developer in Avalanche Studios, who’s very familiar with open worlds and post-apocalyptic games having made the Just Cause series and their own Mad Max game in 2015.

To unveil the game a short announce trailer was released first, followed by a gameplay trailer. You can read more info on the game and watch the two trailers below.

Quake Champions

Quickie video game history lesson: back in 2009, publisher Bethesda Softworks’ parent company ZeniMax Media acquired id Software and brought them into their stable of game developers. The company was responsible for the creation of the modern first-person shooter genre with titles like Wolfenstein 3D, DOOM, and Quake. Back in 2014, the Wolfenstein franchise was resurrected with Wolfenstein: The New Order (developed by MachineGames). Then, just last month, came the return of DOOM, with id handling development themselves.

Now the third id Software classic has officially found new life. During Bethesda’s E3 2016 presentation Quake Champions, which is also developed by id, was announced with a cinematic reveal trailer that you can check out below.

DOOM

DOOM
XBOX ONE (Physical l Digital), PS4 (Physical l Digital), PC (Physical l Digital)
DEVELOPER: id Software
PUBLISHER: Bethesda Softworks
RELEASE DATE: May 13, 2016

The return of DOOM arrived a little over a week ago with the release of the latest installment in the hit first-person shooter series, a reboot of the franchise from original developer id Software.

I’m in an interesting position reviewing this one, as I’ve never actually played any of the DOOM games before. No, I can’t believe it either! My first-person shooter experience in the ’90s was with another id Software title (and another series now published by Bethesda), Wolfenstein 3D. But after seeing trailers and gameplay, I was excited to dive into the madness.

The long-awaited return of the DOOM game franchise has arrived (stay tuned for our review), and no demon is safe.

To celebrate the release of the game, an eight-foot-tall sculpture of one of the game’s Revenant enemies carved from wood—using chainsaws, fittingly—was commissioned. It’s a quite impressive, and slightly intimidating, piece of work.

Be sure to continue below to check out a video of the sculpture being made.
