Incorporated 101--01

Incorporated
Season 1 Episode 1: “Vertical Mobility”
Written & Directed by David Pastor, Àlex Pastor
Starring Sean Teale, Allison Miller, Eddie Ramos, Julia Ormond, Dennis Haysbert, Damon Herriman
Syfy
Air Date: Wednesday, November 30th, 2016, 10:00pm

Incorporated made its debut last night on SyFy, and perhaps right in time for President-Elect Trump. The show is based in the year 2074 and corporations govern all… freaky right? The series is executively produced by Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Jennifer Todd, and created, written and directed by the Pastor Brothers (Alex and David). They co-wrote the 2015 film Self/less starring Ryan Reynolds, and wrote and directed the underrated and underseen 2009 plague film, Carriers. As we learn in the opening crawl, the world was destroyed thanks to global warming (you hear that PE Trump!), and now the corporations rule, secretly battling over Earth’s dwindling resources. Humanity is divided into zones. Green is good for those working for one of these corporations. Red is for the rest of us.

Spoilers below for the premiere of Incorporated!

Fans who’ve been following Grant Morrison‘s Batman work have been waiting with baited breath ever since DC Comics announced their September relaunch. Would Grant Morrison have to wrap up his story before he was ready? Would DC Comics perform the dastardly deed of destroying the international work of The Dark Knight detective? Fear not, Batfans.

On Monday, DC Comics announced on their official website that Morrison’s Batman, Incorporated will start anew in early 2012 with a brand new number one issue. Joined by artist Chris Burnham, Morrison will be bringing the final 12 parts of the Leviathan storyline, which will conclude Morrison’s 6-year Batman epic.

ISSUES

batman incorporated 5Batman, Incorporated #5 (DC Comics – $2.99): I know I say this a lot, but every week that Batman, Incorporated comes out is a week that I will list Batman, Incorporated as my top pick of the week. It’s an addiction, truly it is. I’ve read Grant Morrison’s Batman run multiple times, and the new addition keeps me salivating for more clues on the future for The Dark Knight. Each issue, is a romp through camp, complexity, and insanity, while giving nods to all eras of The Caped Crusader by showing us the Batmen of all nations. Yannick Paquette returns to the title to show us a tale of the other British Batman, and I could not be more excited. Each issue is a blast, and each issue is my favorite issue of the series. Yes, if you’re wondering, I’m both a Morrison and Batman fanboy. And this book makes me proud to be one.
