Indiana Jones & The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull

In 2008, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the long-awaited fourth installment in the Indiana Jones film franchise, was released, and let’s face it, fans were left scratching their heads at it. Some of the elements of this sequel were downright ridiculous, like the infamous “nuke the fridge” sequence, the silly CGI prairie dogs, Cate Blanchett’s horrible Russian accent, and half the things Shia LaBeouf said and did.

Now, the folks over at CinemaSins are back with a new installment of their “Everything Wrong With…” series, with a 15-minute video of “Everything Wrong With Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.” Check it out here below.

Indiana Jones 4

May fans agree that the one great error in the Indiana Jones series was its most recent installment, Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Hard to believe that a film that made so much at the box office can be panned critically and publicly, but it was, yet some are holding on to hope that a fifth Indiana Jones can put the iconic adventurer back on top.

Unfortunately, producer Frank Marshall doesn’t see that happening any time soon or at all. According to him, it all ends with four.

Red Letter Media’s Mr. Plinkett Reviews ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull’

Red Letter Media

Mr. Plinkett, the sardonic, slow-speaking (dude sounds creepily like Buffalo Bill) video reviewer for Red Letter Media, has returned with another of his cuttingly funny and methodical dissections of another blockbuster from recent years.

In the past, he’s ripped movies like Star Wars – Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, Avatar, and the 2009 Star Trek with joyous gusto. This time around he turns the tables on Steven Spielberg and George LucasIndiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the fourth go-around for filmdom’s favorite fedora-sporting archaeologist/adventurer and a celluloid corpse that has been kicked plenty enough over the years.

Indiana Jones 4

With his latest feature, the CGI mo-cap animated film The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, already in release in the U.K., filmmaker Steven Spielberg granted an interview with the British film monthly Empire for their December issue.

In the interview Spielberg discussed the future of the Indiana Jones (George Lucas is still working on the story for the fifth movie) and Jurassic Park (Mark Protosevich is writing the screenplay) franchises. Then he turned his attention to address grievances fans of the Indiana Jones series had with the previous sequel, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

UPDATED! Rumor Madness: ‘Indiana Jones 5’ Goes To Bermuda Triangle? Jamie Bell Tops For ‘Spider-Man’?

**UPDATED BELOW**

Some big-time rumors have been taking over the net recently. Unfortunately, they are all rumor, and that means we still have to wait for official announcements. But hey, while we’re here, might as well share the whispers and see what you think!

The first rumor comes by way of New Zealand’s Stuff (via AICN), who claim to have the inside scoop on Indiana Jones 5. We’ve heard plenty from stars and others (Read: Shia LaBeouf Says Steven Spielberg Has The ‘Indiana Jones 5′ Story Set ) that the movie would be happening, but nothing about what we might be able to expect from the film.

The thing about this rumor is: you probably want it to be true.

Shia LaBeouf Now Apologizing For ‘Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull’

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Not too long ago, Shia LaBeouf was a budding young star. Before long, he was everywhere we looked, and this didn’t sit so well with a lot of movie fans. Mixed into this LaBeouf overdose was both Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull — both of which made ridiculous amounts of money, and both of which were eviscerated by critics and fans everywhere.

Just a few days ago, LaBeouf offered up apologies to fans for how the second Transformers movie went, and promised much better things in the third one. The actor, who’s currently at the Cannes Film Festival to promote his movie, Oliver Stone’s Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, is clearly out to do some damage control on his career (by his own free will or by the urging of his representatives, who knows). Now, LaBeouf has offered apologies and explanations for the fourth and latest Indiana Jones while talking to the LA Times, for which he takes full responsibility.

Saints

Geeks of Doom has had the honor of interviewing some of the great cast members of Troy Duffy‘s desperately-anticipated sequel, Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day. First up was the wonderful Clifton Collins Jr., who’s new to the gang in the sequel. And now, I’m pleased to present our own little chat with the best two good guy killers ever seen in a movie — the Boondock Saints: Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus!

Whether you’re a super-fan of the original 1999 cult classic The Boondock Saints or not, you’ve very likely seen both of these gentleman in numerous other movies and TV shows. Sean has appeared in movies like Powder and Suicide Kings, and he even rocked the fedora and whip as Indiana Jones in Young Indiana Jones. Norman will soon be seen in Pandorum, and is also known from his roles in movies like Deuces Wild, Blade II, and Ridley Scott’s American Gangster with Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington.

You can stay up to date with both of these fine actors by following them on Twitter, or by going to their official websites for all the information you need on all of the past, current, and future projects discussed in this interview. Sean Patrick Flanery can be found at his site www.seanflanery.com, and you can find Norman Reedus and his work at either www.bigbaldhead.com or www.normanreedusonline.com.

Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day will officially be released on October 30th of this year, so there’s only a little more than a month to wait. For now, you can go and watch the trailer 50 or 60 more times, and you can click on over to the other side and read this little chat with the McManus brothers!

Shia LaBeouf Says Steven Spielberg Has The ‘Indiana Jones 5’ Story Set

The Movie God   |  @   |

Indy

This is about as simple and subtle a news story as there can be, but considering the topic, it is indeed well worth a mention.

While promoting Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen over in the U.K., the BBC was able to obtain a tiny little morsel out of star Shia LaBeouf in regard to potential next Indiana Jones movie. Oddly enough, you can actually hear everyone take a deep sigh while reading that last line. When asked about the next movie, LaBeouf seemingly announced that director Steven Spielberg had actually figured out what the next story would be and that he was “gearing up” for it. This of course does not confirm or guarantee another movie is going to actually be made, but consensus seemed to be: if they figured out a good enough story, they would be up for doing another movie.

After the critically crucified fourth installment in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, fans were enraged and heartbroken and it was all just a really large mess. If they do plan on making a fifth film, it’s going to have to be remarkably better in order to win hearts back. Rumors have circulated that there was a possible plan to make Crystal Skull, and then keep making new Indiana Jones movies as the lead was slowly passed along from Harrison Ford to LaBeouf. This would take the Indiana Jones franchise to a veritable James Bond level where the character out-grows any particular face and different actors and directors could come along and create various stories of adventure. Some people seem to like this idea; others weep at the thought. I’m personally on the fence about it. All that I do know is: make one hundred movies using the formula that you used to make the first three, and many of them will be loved. Step away from that original formula again, and you will likely fail.
