GoD List Halloween

Each and every week, I, “Count Chocula” Henchman21, and “Boo Berry” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible… theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of October 30, 2013. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

It’s Halloween, kiddies which means it’s time for us to bring you a list full of creepy tales to keep you entertained on a dark and stormy night. Or maybe you’re not into the whole horror thing and you just want to keep up with your favorite superheroes. Fortunately, we’ve got something for everyone today. So go out and pick up some comics, and if you’re got a little extra money and plan on handing out candy to the neighborhood kids, consider buying some cheap kid friendly issues out of the quarter bins and hand those out along with the candy. It’s better than handing out floss or pennies or anything that isn’t candy. If there’s one thing we don’t recommend, it’s getting your house egged because you let down all those trick or treaters. So, go out, have fun, stay safe, and enjoy comics with this extra scary edition of The GoD List!

Avengers World Banner

As we get towards the end of Marvel’s Infinity event, we’re starting to get the shape of what the universe will be like once the cosmic storyline comes to an end. One of the books that will spin out of Infinity was announced at New York Comic-Con this weekend with Avengers World set to release in January 2014.

Avengers World teams up writer Nick Spencer (Secret Avengers, Superior Foes of Spider-Man) with co-writer Jonathan Hickman (Avengers, Infinity) and artist Stefano Caselli (Avengers) and focuses on “the new heroes recently added to the team’s roster.”

Each and every week, I, “The Hunter” Henchman21, and “The Score” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible… theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of August 14, 2013. Who doesn’t love a big crossover? Well, lots of people I guess, but just because some comic events don’t live up to the hype, it doesn’t stop us from buying them for whatever reason, which is good news for Marvel Comics as they launch yet another big old hootenanny of a comic. But, if you don’t like you comics on a big scale, there’s plenty else out there for you this week, including another Marvel series that doesn’t have time for your fancy crossover. Oh, and I guess there’s a new issue of Brian K. Vaughan’s Saga. But you’re probably buying that anyway. And Gail Simone’s next installment of Red Sonja. So, let’s shoot for the stars in an absolutely cosmic edition of The GoD List!

Free Comic Book Day Is May 4th, 2013, Here’s What To Look For

Free Comic Book Day

It’s time once again for another glorious Free Comic Book Day! It’s that most special day of the year when you can stroll down to your local comic book dispensary and partake in any number of comics (usually 3, unless you’re in the Underoo set, in which case most good stores will load you up), all for the price of nothing. It’s a great day to celebrate comics and to say thank you to your friendly neighborhood comic book store, and for them to say thanks to you. Many stores will be having special signings and appearances from local comic book people, or some other kind of festivities, so be sure to find a local store, even if you’re not a big comic fan. And bring the kids along if you have any. Any good store will have activates with them in mind, and you can maximize the free stuff you get if you bring a child with you.

And if you are a big fan already, try to buy something from the store you go to on Free Comic Book Day. I know that sounds like it defeats the purpose of the day, but the stores have costs associated with getting the comics they had out, and the owners sure will appreciate putting a little money in the coffers to recoup those costs.
