Jungle Cruise Starring Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson

Disney has been trying to create a new series of film franchises based on their slate of original rides at their theme parks. Although, that has been met with mixed results. While Pirates of the Caribbean has proven to be a huge franchise, the long-gestating Haunted Mansion ride has proven to be a little difficult to get off the ground. Luckily, Disney has other rides to work with. Their latest is Jungle Cruise, starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt as they set off an adventure to find an ancient tree with mystical healing properties.

Now the film is starting production, and to commemorate, Disney has released a brand new video featuring the two fighting for some screen time. It is amusing for the most part as the two riff off of each other. Check out the charming video below.

‘Suicide Squad 2’: Jaume Collet-Serra Now The Top Choice To Direct DC Films Sequel

Jaume Collet-Serra Top Choice To Direct Suicide Squad 2

Ever since David Ayer opted to take the reins on Gotham City Sirens in lieu of the sequel to his 2016 comic book action blockbuster Suicide Squad, it looked like Task Force X would require a new commander to call the shots on their next big adventure if the DC Films sequel was to be ready in time for its undated 2019 release.

The search for Suicide Squad 2‘s new director has not yet ended, but the current front-runner for the job is now Jaume Collet-Serra. Best known for making modestly budgeted action and horror hits like Non-Stop and The Shallows, Collet-Serra has seized the top contender position from Mel Gibson. Previous candidates also included Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), Daniel Espinosa (Life), and Blade: Trinity director David Goyer.

Movie Review: The Shallows

The Shallows
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra
Written by Anthony Jaswinski
Starring Blake Lively
Distributor: Sony Pictures

Rated PG-13 | 86 Minutes
Release Date: June 24th, 2016

If you’ve seen the previews for The Shallows, then you know what the movie is about; a surfer is attacked by a Great White Shark at a “secret” beach in Mexico, and left stranded on a rocky reef a mere 200 yards from shore. The tide is coming and soon it’ll be her vs. the biggest apex predator on earth, on its home turf. “Shark movies” have become cliche in recent years thanks in part to two main sources; the popularity of Discovery Channel’s Shark Week, and the ridiculous success of SyFy’s shark movies: Mega-Shark vs. Giant Octopus, Sharktopus, the Sharknado series, etc. 41 years ago, Steven Spielberg created a monster with Jaws, the first summer blockbuster and my favorite movie of all time. Since then, moviemakers have been trying to recapture that lightning. Usually, the movies are comical in their attempts. Who doesn’t remember Samuel L. Jackson and LL Cool J battling makos in Deep Blue Sea. However, once in awhile they actually get it right.

House of Wax Header

House of Wax
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra
Written by Chad & Carey Hayes
Starring Elisha Cuthbert, Chad Michael Murray, Jared Padalecki, Paris Hilton, Brian Van Holt, Robert Ri’chard, Jon Abrahams
Warner Bros
Netflix Release: December, 2016

A 25% on Rotten Tomatoes. A Metacritic score of 41. 2005’s House of Wax… this movie must SUCK! Of course, if you hit the flashback machine a decade, the bane of all human existence was Paris Hilton. Long before anyone cared about the Kardashian sisters or what stupid names Kim names her kids, there was Paris, the heiress to the Hilton hotel fortune. Famous for a leaked sex tape, and a reality show on cable TV (sound familiar?), Paris Hilton coined the phrase “That’s hot” and… that’s it. That was her major contribution to America. And right in the middle of her notoriety, she gets cast in the remake of the beloved 1953 Vincent Price horror flick, House of Wax. The movie didn’t stand a chance. But here’s the thing… it’s kinda awesome. And, it’s now available streaming on Netflix.

Akira

Warner Brothers has been attempting to bring a live-action adaption of Akira to the big screen for a long while now, with many budgetary complications and cast and crew issues leading to delay after delay…much to the elation of fans who don’t want to see it happen.

Lately, however, things appeared to be moving forward, and doing so at a quick pace. Beginning this past October, the movie was officially greenlighted after some budget problems were ironed out and a star was found in Tron: Legacy‘s Garrett Hedlund. Then came word that The Twilight Saga star Kristen Stewart might be in line for the role of Kei.

Now things have yet again taken a turn for the worst (if you wanted to see this movie happen, of course). It’s being reported that Warner Brothers has shut down production, with one insider saying “everyone is being sent home.”
