Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2

Walt Disney Animation Studios has released the first teaser trailer for Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2, the sequel to their 2012 animated hit Wreck-It Ralph.

In the sequel Ralph and Vanellope leave the arcade on an adventure to the world wide web in hopes of saving Vanellope’s game, Sugar Rush. John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman return to voice Ralph and Vanellope once again, and they’re joined this time around by newcomer Taraji P. Henson, who voices a character named Yesss. The movie is directed by Rich Moore (who co-directed the first movie as well as Zootopia and episodes of The Simpsons and Futurama) and Phil Johnston (who worked on the screenplays for the original, Zootopia, Cedar Rapids, and The Brothers Grimsby).

Wreck-It Ralph 2 image

We haven’t seen much from Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 since the first teaser image was released a few months back, but we knew that Ralph would be hitting the Internet superhighway. At least that’s based on the parody websites that we saw in the background of that teaser image. But now we are getting to know a little bit more about the film and how a coin-op arcade character will adapt to a cyber world full of “which princess are you?” quizzes, gifs, and online shopping. As if winning a good guy medal wasn’t already hard enough for a bad guy. See below for more on what we learned about the film on Friday at this year’s D23 Expo.

The Little Hours movie review

The Little Hours
Written & Directed by Jeff Baena
Starring Aubrey Plaza, Kate Micucci, John C. Reilly, Molly Shannon, Fred Armisen, Alison Brie, Nick Offerman, Dave Franco, Paul Reiser, Jemima Kirke, Paul Weitz
Gunpowder & Sky
Release date: June 30, 2017

When looking for inspiration for modern comedy, I know what you’re thinking”¦ the 14th century! For The Little Hours, writer/director Jeff Baena turns to an odd source, Giovanni Boccaccio’s The Decameron. Written in the late 1300s after the Bubonic Plague ripped Europe apart, The Decameron was a collection of novellas about ten young people living in a secluded villa. The atmosphere and period setting made me instinctively think of Monty Python and the Holy Grail while the tone of the comedy — sex-based and vulgar — brought to mind There’s Something About Mary and Superbad. Somehow these two angles come together to form an oddly unique film that is intriguing throughout and laugh out loud funny at times.

When it was announced that Disney would be releasing Wreck-It Ralph 2, fans really got excited. The title character (voiced by John C. Reilly) and Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman) would be returning for an all new arcade adventure that would be set on the Internet.

But sometimes sequel titles can be as simple as adding a number after the title or just adding a subtitle. But not for Disney, who had their presentation at CinemaCon2017 last night. They revealed a few of their titles to theater owners, including a new title for Wreck-It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2. More on the story below.

“Hold onto your butts,” United States Army Lieutenant Colonel Preston Packard (Samuel L. Jackson) proclaims as he and his squad act as a military escort for an expedition team that charts a newly discovered island. You may have heard that line before in Jurassic Park, but the anxiousness that swells over before the outcome is the same nonetheless. In fact, that’s the kind of feeling you get when watching Kong: Skull Island. The unconventional story of the King of the Monsters doesn’t rehash the story that has been retold countless times; instead, it focuses solely on the island itself and the monsters that inhabit it. Check out the full review below.
