Jonah Hex Motion ComicWith the upcoming Jonah Hex live- action film (out in theaters on June 18) starring Josh Brolin and Megan Fox, it seems like the perfect time to visit some adventures from Mr. Hex’s past. Warner Premiere believes the best way to do that is to buy their 8th motion comic, Jonah Hex Motion Comics.

Based on the comics written by John Albano and drawn by Tony DeZuniga, these new Jonah Hex Motion Comics are perfect for all you western lovers out there. If you recall, Warner Premiere is the same company that brought us both the Batman: Black and White and Watchmen Motion Comics series.

Over the course of 7 episodes, which will lead up to the theatrical release, the Motion Comics specifically cover three archival stories from Jonah Hex’s comics past. The first five episodes are adapted from the graphic novel Two Gun Mojo, which features Jonah Hex seeking justice and revenge against Doc Williams and his gang over a murdered friend. The other two stories are taken from the 1970’s comics The Gunfighter and The Hangin’ Woman. Viewers should be aware these stories are re-colored and animated for the first time.

New Image Gives Clear Look At Josh Brolin As Jonah Hex

Jonah Hex Poster

A brand new image from the adaptation of graphic novel Jonah Hex has been released online. We had seen a couple of images from behind the scenes, and we’ve seen the first not-so-well-designed one-sheet from the movie (seen at right — we don’t want Gone in 60 Seconds; we want gritty, dark old west graphic novel goodness), but this is the first large and clear look at star Josh Brolin as the deformed 19th century anti-hero in full Civil War gear.

The movie follows Hex, a veteran of the Confederate army whose face is terribly deformed. After the war, he concentrates his talents into a life of work as a bounty hunter. No exact details are known on what storyline the movie will take, but there is a synopsis below, though it does hint at things that have been denied like John Malkovich as Quentin Turnbull unleashing “Hell.” This could refer to a rumored storyline where Turnbull goes voodoo and forms an army of the dead which director Jimmy Hayward denied at Comic Con.

Akiva Goldsman Talks ‘Swamp Thing,’ ‘Lobo’ & Others; New ‘The Losers’ Poster

Swamp Thing

In the same interview with the LA Times that revealed Marvel topper Kevin Feige’s view of Batman & Robin as the most important comic book movie ever to be made, screenwriter Akiva Goldsman spoke about all of his other upcoming projects for DC Comics. Covered here is some new bits from the revamping of Swamp Thing and the movie adaptation of Lobo. They also talk about other projects such as Jonah Hex, which you can follow their link to read about.

The best part of everything talked about was easily Swamp Thing. At first this was just another of many remakes which actually sounded pretty cheesy, but with this interview, some excitement has begun to build up. Goldsman explained that they “want a film with real Southern, dark horror overtones, a little bit like a classic Universal horror film,” and that they actually want to make the movie closer to Alan Moore‘s popular comic book vision of the character and not based on the 80s movies.

With these two things, this new Swamp Thing has a lot more potential than it once had, though there is still a long way to go before we really see what they try to do with the property. The article even mentions that Guillermo del Toro himself considers Swamp Thing one of the “few remaining Holy Grails” of comic book characters.

SDCC 09: ‘Jonah Hex’ Panel

Jonah Hex was part of the Warner Bros. presentation on Friday at the San Diego Comic-Con and unlike the other major presentations in Hall H, the security for the WB properties was insanely tight. Those of us covering the panels were not allowed to keep our laptops open to take notes of the footage shown (other studios didn’t have a problem with this, as long as we turned the backlight off). Because of this, it was hard to take detailed notes of the footage, so a few of us did a Check out the video blog over at footage-reaction video blog as soon as the panels were over for Jonah Hex, as well as the reboot of A Nightmare On Elm Street.

Check out the video blog over at /Film of Dave3 and me, along with Peter from /Film, Alex from First Showing, Vic from Screen Rant, and Dan from Totally Rad Show discussing the footage of Jonah Hex and Elm Street.

At right is the new poster that debuted for Jonah Hex; below are photos from the panel. See SDCC 09: Jackie Earle Haley Nails Freddy Krueger In New “˜A Nightmare On Elm Street’ Footage for my full coverage of the Elm Street panel and of Jackie Earle Haley’s portrayal of Freddy Krueger.

The Jonah Hex panel included director Jimmy Hayward, along with stars Josh Brolin, Michael Fassbender, and Megan Fox.

The Jonah Hex film, based on DC Comics series of the same name, is a spaghetti western action flick that includes elements of sideshow and absurdity, as well as the supernatural and fantastical. Hayward stressed that although there’s a supernatural element in the film, there’s no voodoo practitioner raising an army of the undead, as has been reported.

Geek Peek: Josh Brolin & Megan Fox In ‘Jonah Hex’
space
The Movie God   |  @   |

Jonah HexThe first images of Josh Brolin in full costume from the set of Jonah Hex have made their way out on to the web, complete with his severely deformed half-face. The graphic novel adaptation is currently filming and is helmed by Horton Hears A Who! co-director Jimmy Hayward.

It’s not yet known exactly which storyline will be used for the movie, but Jonah Hex is about a Confederate Civil War soldier-turned bounty hunter with half of his face deformed. John Malkovich also stars in the movie as the villain Quentin Turnbull, “the man with the eagle-topped cane,” which may give a clue to the possible storyline. Turnbull’s son and Hex were friends when the Union slaughtered him and many other soldiers after Hex refused to give information. They blamed the slaughter on Hex and Turnbull made it his mission to destroy him.

To go along with these cool first looks at Josh Brolin, there’s also some peeks at Megan Fox in Jonah Hex, as well. These images came out quite a while back, but in case you missed them then, they are here now to accompany Mr. Brolin.

Head over to the other side to see a few of these images, click them to go large.
