WandaVision

Marvel Studios’ Disney+ shows will be an extension of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, more so than what Marvel Television has been in the past. These shows will be directly connected to the MCU. Some might even lead into films, like WandaVision. The series will bring back Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch and Paul Bettany as Vision.

Based on what we’ve heard in the past, the series will have a ’50s vibe to it. At the time, it was unclear what that meant. However, while at the D23 Expo Kevin Feige and director Matt Shakman, as well as Olsen and Bettany, took to the stage to give attendees an idea of what to expect and share a few more surprises as well. Like the additions of Kat Dennings (Thor) and Randall Park (Ant-Man and the Wasp), both of whom will be reprising their respective roles as Darcy and Agent Jimmy Woo. More on the report below.

Kat Dennings Gets Expanded Role In ‘Thor: The Dark World’

Kat Dennings In Thor

Thor: The Dark World wouldn’t be as much fun of a sequel without Kat Dennings, who starred in Thor as a political science student who gets misplaced with the wrong internship and caught up in the battle of the cosmos along with Natalie Portman and Stellen Skarsgard. Her quick wit and sarcasm provided some great humor for the movie and now she is officially signed on to appear in the sequel, which is expected to start shooting this fall.

As to the reason why it might have taken so long to get her signed on, well, it’s because of her commitment to the hit CBS comedy, Two Broke Girls. According to Deadline, all of that has been worked out. She even gets an expanded role in the sequel, which means she could do more than just mispronounce Mjolnir on multiple occasions. She certainly deserves to do more than just spew out a few witty one-liners. So we’ll see what she can do when the time comes.

Week of Geek: Thor

Thor
Directed by Kenneth Branagh
Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgard, Kat Dennings, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg, Idris Elba
Release Date: May 6, 2011

“Can I come home?”

Rarely do we hear these words come from a man of enormous stature. It is hard to conceive a man who hasn’t felt the anguish of defeat utter these words while in a state of utter helplessness. It is only right that we become even more incredulous when we have a God asking “Can I come home?” Thor, the long blond-haired hammer-pounding God of Thunder, and zealously worshipped during the Viking Age of what is referred to as Norse mythology, has become overwhelmed by the time he asks the dejected question. Prior to this Thor (Chris Hemsworth) has endured brutal battles occurring in the magical realm of Asgard. He has dealt with familial angst between his father and King of Asgard, Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and his brother, Loki (Tom Hiddleston). But all has taken an immense toll on Thor and he is unable to maintain any kind of emotional balance, causing his potency and permanence as a war-thirsty God to become less formidable. Instead, he is rendered humble, disconsolate, and love stricken. A once-fierce God enjoying the pleasures of immortality, Thor needs to redefine his life as he suffers, emotionally and physically, the uncomfortable truths of mortality.
