Thor: Hammer of the Gods

If you found yourself spending hours playing Angry Birds, then here’s something even better: a new online game called Thor: Hammer of The Gods.

In this free web game, which is a tie-in to Marvel’s upcoming Thor movie, you fight in Asgard as Thor against the Frost Giants. When you defeat enough enemies — by throwing the mighty Mjolnir, Thor’s hammer! — in a certain amount of rounds, it unlocks trophies, which contain footage from the film and character bios. You can also choose to sign into the game through your Facebook account so you can compete against others.

I’m not going to lie, this game is addictive. Once you wield the power of Mjolnir, you just can’t stop! Check out my badass score in the screenshot above — not bad for my first try! (I probably would have done better had I maybe read the brief instructions on how throw the hammer, but I don’t have the patience for that.)

Week of Geek: San Diego Comic Con International 2010

Marvel Studios Thor Chris HemsworthMarvel Studios gave fans at 2010 San Diego Comic-Con the very first look at their upcoming 3D feature film Thor, which isn’t due in theaters until 2011.

The panel included Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg, Kat Dennings, and director Kenneth Branagh, as well as producer Kevin Feige.

One valuable piece of information about the film was disclosed by director Branagh concerning Thor’s mortal life.

“We have some Don Blake surprises in this movie. So do not assume that he is not included,” Branagh revealed.

As far as the video they screened, I was ultimately satisfied. The 3D elements didn’t overpower the overall visuals and instead (at least from what I saw) added texture and a bit of depth to a few scenes. See the full description of the footage here below.

I’ll admit I was worried the movie was far too plastic and bright judging from the screen shots they provided in the week prior to SDCC. But I am happy to say that from the footage screened to the audience, I am fairly confident they could actually pull this off.

Marvel Chief Joe Quesada Talks ‘Thor’; Kat Dennings’ Role Revealed

The Movie God   |  @   |

Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada recently answered a pile of questions for Comic Book Resources, and among the topics, the Thor movie adaptation was naturally one of the prime topics covered. Quesada was asked how confident that he was in the the project and how he answers to those who remain skeptical of Thor’s ability to work as a movie and become the next mega-franchises.

While it’s obvious that Quesada wasn’t going to say anything negative about a property in which he holds massive stake in, it is still interesting enough to read what him and others like them are seeing from the film makers. He talks about how we the movie-goers — whether fans of Thor or not — will go in expecting one thing or another, and that none of us will get what we expect. He also goes on to talk about how unbelievably passionate director Kenneth Branagh is when he’s directing, and what he thinks while watching him work.

Click over and continue reading to check out the massive quote from Quesada. You can also head over to the link above to check out a bunch more questions and answers from the Marvel chief.
