Detective Pikachu

If you’ve been keeping up with the marketing for Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, then you know how hilariously meta it has been. With a little bit of help from Ryan Reynolds using some of his infectious personality and sharp sense of humor, the upcoming film looks like it will live up to expectations and hopefully break the cycle of video game film adaptations being bad.

But the actor has found a leak of the full film that was posted on YouTube late last night. While he made sure to bring it to Warner Brothers’ attention, it looks like the studio has taken no action whatsoever. Of course, there may be a clever reason for that. Check out the video below.

Detective Pikachu

Warner Bros. and Legendary could have gone the traditional route with their first live-action Pokémon movie by adapting the story of the boy on a journey to collect all Pokémon species. But they didn’t. Instead, they are adapting one of the franchise’s many spinoffs, Detective Pikachu.

In the film adaptation, we see Justice Smith play Tim Goodman, a human, whose father has suddenly gone missing. But when a wise-cracking Pikachu (Ryan Reynolds) comes in to help him, they uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe. Check out the newest trailer for the film below.

Blockers

Blockers
Director: Kay Cannon
Screenwriter: Brian Kehoe, Jim Kehoe, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, Eben Russell
Cast: Leslie Mann, Ike Barinholtz, John Cena, Kathryn Newton, Geraldine Viswanathan, Gideon Adlon
Distributor: Universal Pictures
Release Date: April 6, 2018

**This review was provided to us by Yolanda Machado of SassyMamaInLA**

Don’t let the Blockers trailer fool you – this movie is hilarious and empowering, with a strong message that doesn’t try to preach about sex or virginity in one way or another. Director Kay Cannon’s Blockers is the coming of age comedy I have been waiting for since I was an awkward, teenage girl full of curiosity and hormones, but having media tell me I was wrong for wanting to embrace my sexuality and having to figure everything out by bad advice and a whole lot of mistakes. A perfectly cast trio of comedy all-stars as the parents (John Cena, Leslie Mann, and Ike Barinholtz) and three incredible young women as the daughters (Kathryn Newton, Geraldine Viswanathan, and Gideon Adlon) make Blockers enjoyable, entertaining and a gut-busting good time.

Detective Pikachu

If the early cast for the Pokemon movie Detective Pikachu didn’t catch you off guard at first, then this next new cast member will be even more of a shocker. Following the casting of Ryan Reynolds as the title character comes Ken Watanabe.

That’s right, the live-action Pokemon movie is very much real, and it is adding actors and actresses that will make up a pretty eclectic cast. More on the story below.

Detective Pikachu

It looks like the world of Pokemon is about to get a major attitude problem now that Ryan Reynolds is in talks to lend his voice to Detective Pikachu, the first ever live-action Pokemon movie.

Yes, the live-action Pokemon movie is still in the works, having just cast two other actors in the past few weeks. But adding Reynolds should prove to be the star power the film needs to draw some major attention. More on the story below.

Paranormal Activity 4 movie posterParanormal Activity 4
Directed by Henry Joost, Ariel Schulman
Written by Christopher Landon, Chad Feehan
Starring Katie Featherston, Kathryn Newton, Matt Shively, Brady Allen, and Aiden Lovekamp
Paramount Pictures
Rated R | 88 Minutes
Release Date: October 19, 2012

Things that go bump in the night. The primal unknown that can make anyone lose sleep. It’s a simple concept that we can all relate to, which is why the original Paranormal Activity struck such a nerve. Audiences loved it, and it made over 12,500 times its budget in profit. So it’s not surprising Paramount has been churning out sequels every year since.

As with the previous films, Paranormal Activity 4 features “found footage” captured by the characters themselves. Each film as found put a unique spin on how the footage is captured, but the result is the same. This time, the audience is shown an amalgamation of footage captured from web cams, digital cameras, and, in a less-than-subtle piece of product placement, feedback from an XBOX Kinect setup. Unlike the previous films, however, this one offers no explanation for when or how the footage was found and put back together. This was the first sign that storytelling was not a high priority this time around.
