Teen Wolf roundtable interview, NYCC 2016

With Teen Wolf’s final New York Comic-Con panel in the books, it was a nostalgic and emotional weekend for the fans as well as the cast and crew of the MTV show. A devoted fan of the series myself, I jumped at the chance to sit down with stars Tyler Posey and Holland Roden as well as Executive Producer Jeff Davis (also the creator of Criminal Minds) and hear their perspectives personally. Cast members Linden Ashby, Melissa Ponzio, and Shelley Hennig were also in the room and are included in the photo ops below.

Read what they had to say and check out exclusive photos from the roundtable interviews here below.

Let the Right One In

TNT has ordered a pilot episode for a TV series adaptation of Let the Right One In, the 2004 novel written by John Ajvide Lindqvist. The novel was adapted into the 2008 Swedish film of the same name directed by Tomas Alfredson, which then got an American remake in 2010 titled Let Me In directed by Matt Reeves.

The potential series was first set up at A&E after they beat out Showtime in a bidding war for the rights to the project, but those rights eventually reverted back to Tomorrow Studios.

5 Questions For Matt Reeves, Director Of ‘Let Me In’ and ‘Cloverfield’
space

Let Me In

Let the Right One In was one of the most critically acclaimed genre films of 2009 and it remains one of the most unique vampire stories of this era. The only issue is that it’s a foreign film, so yes American audiences have to read subtitles in order to enjoy the film. So what’s the solution? Obviously it’s to remake the film domestically. It’s not necessarily the right solution, but it’s Hollywood’s solution. It seems that redoing such a critically loved film would be a really daunting task. A small studio got the rights to the film and hired Matt Reeves, the man who brought us the big monster movie Cloverfield, to take on the job. Let Me In hit theaters last year with built-in hate from fans of the original film. Slowly though, as critics and fans saw the movie, the tide began to turn. Yes, it was a remake but it was an extremely well executed one with some ideas and perspective that made the film feel fresh and the story feel new again. It’s not fair to ask if this film is better or worse than the original: it’s different. The core story is the same, based on a novel, but the perspective of the director and the way the story is told is different in this film compared to the original.

After having some time to sit back and take the whole experience in, director Matt Reeves shares his thoughts with me on the film, the novel, the actors, and more just as the Let Me In DVD and Blu-ray release looms.

Let Me InLet Me In
Directed by Matt Reeves
Starring Kodi Smit-McPhee, Chloe Moretz, Richard Jenkins, Elias Koteas
Rated R
Release date: October 1, 2010

Let Me In is an American remake of the Swedish film Let the Right One In. Owen, portrayed by Kodi Smit-McPhee, lives with his mom in an apartment complex. Owen’s parents are divorced and he is constantly bullied at school. Things begin to change when Owen meets and befriends Abby (Chloe Moretz, a girl who moves into his apartment complex. Abby behaves a little strangely, but their friendship continues to grow. Eventually, Owen learns that Abby is a vampire and has to feed on human blood to survive.

Kodi Smit-McPhee is very believable as the pitifully frail Owen. It is hard not to feel sympathy with him when he is verbally and physically abused by a gang of bullies led by Kenny. Kenny is portrayed by Dylan Minnette as an evil, callous child. Chloe Moretz follows up her excellent portrayal of Hit-Girl in Kick-Ass with another strong performance as the eternal vampire girl Abby. Smit-McPhee and Moretz play their roles perfectly and their puppy-love relationship seems very plausible.

SDCC 2010: Let Me In panel: Chloe Moretz

Nothing makes true movie fans more angry than hearing about a brilliant foreign film getting an American remake, sometimes before the original is even released itself. Examples include The Ring (Ringu), The Grudge (Ju-On), Quarantine ([REC]), and the latest title, Let Me In, which is a remake of Swedish hit Let the Right One In.

The thing about Let Me In, however, is that the more people see and hear of it, the more it begins to look like it might become a legit new film. This possibility was elevated to a new level this past weekend during Comic-Con 2010, where the movie and its cast and crew made a lot of people believers.

The panel opens with a new trailer from the movie. The first trailer was decent but this new trailer really shows off how dark this movie will be, and some of the chemistry that the film’s two young stars share with one another.

Next up comes the introduction of director Matt Reeves, stars Kodi Smit-McPhee, Richard Jenkins, and Chloe Moretz.

‘Lost’ & ‘Star Trek’ Composer Michael Giacchino To Bring Music To ‘Let Me In’

The Movie God   |  @   |

One of the best musical composers working today, Michael Giacchino, has announced that he will be handling the score for Matt Reeves‘ horror remake, Let Me In. Giacchino made the announcement on his official website.

The movie is a remake of popular Swedish vampire film Let the Right One In, and stars Chloe Moretz as a centuries old vampire who forms a close bond with a young boy (Kodi Smit-McPhee), and Richard Jenkins.

The original is so popular that a remake has sounded like a terrible idea from the start. As time goes on, however, Let Me In has looked better and better right up to the release of the first teaser trailer, which you can see at the bottom of this post if you missed it.
