“Everything is exactly as it seems.”

Written and directed by Andy Nyman and Jeremy Dyson, Ghost Stories is an atmospheric, impeccably crafted British horror anthology that subverts genre conventions while delivering legitimate chills. Adapted from their stage play, the film sees Nyman (of The Commuter and Death at a Funeral) reprising his role as Phillip Goodman, a well-known professor who has devoted his life to exposing phony psychics and supernatural shenanigans.

A debunker of all things paranormal, Goodman believes that it is his life’s work to stop people’s lives from being ruined by superstition. He receives an invitation to visit a famed 1970s paranormal investigator, Charles Cameron (Leonard Byrne), who inspired him as a kid, but disappeared decades ago. Now living as a sick and impoverished old man, Cameron asks Goodman to investigate a few unsolved cases of supposedly real ghost sightings.

Black Panther is the 18th Marvel Studios film to be released. Now just a few months after its initial release, it is coming home on Blu-ray and digital.

Director Ryan Coogler presents audiences with a new kind of superhero film. By weaving in social issues – like culture, identity, and representation – that affect us today, he turns what would have been an ordinary comic book movie into an extraordinary crowning achievement. It’s certainly not a risky film, but one that needed to be made. For there is a superhero in everyone, and it’s high time that we get to see more representation on the big screen. Check out my review of Black Panther on 4K below.

Martin Freeman in Netflix's Cargo

Back in 2013 a short film about a father trying to find protection for his infant daughter during the zombie apocalypse titled Cargo was released online, and quickly amassed millions of views. It has since been viewed by millions more, bringing its current total view count to over 14 million.

The short was so popular, in fact, that it was eventually announced that a feature film adaptation was on the way. We saw some images from the movie (which stars The Hobbit and Sherlock star Martin Freeman) a little over a year ago, and now Netflix has released an official trailer. You can read more about Cargo and watch the trailer below.

Black Panther Dora Milaje

Black Panther is easily one of the best Marvel Studios films to come out in recent years. And I am not just saying that because it is the most recent film to be released by the studio. The way it addresses social issues, representation, identity, and feminism and still maintains its superhero feel is incredible.

Now that Marvel is turning its attention to Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is talking about Black Panther‘s success. Check out what he had to say about it, the chances for a sequel and possible spinoffs, and more below.
