Bruce Willis

Robert Rodriguez has been promising a sequel to Sin City, the 2005 over-the-top noir comic adaptation he co-directed with its creator Frank Miller, since the original became a smash hit in theaters and on home video. Up until a few months ago there had not been much movement on the project outside of unfulfilled promises and expectations, but production on the upcoming Sin City: A Dame to Kill For – a sequel that will be a combination of previously published comic stories and all-new material conceived by Miller – has been going on at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas for a while now.

Every week seems to bring exciting news on the casting front with original stars Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, and Jaime King reprising their roles alongside new cast members Josh Brolin (playing Dwight, Clive Owen‘s character from the original), Jamie Chung (stepping in for Devon Aoki as the deadly sword-wielding Miho), Dennis Haysbert (replacing the late Michael Clarke Duncan as brutal underworld enforcer Manute), Ray Liotta, Juno Temple, Christopher Meloni, and most interesting of all, Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Manute in Sin City Image

In the 2005 movie Sin City, Michael Clarke Duncan played a bad dude named Manute, who had a run in with Dwight (Clive Owen), Gail (Rosario Dawson), and her girls.

The character will also be part of the upcoming long awaited sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, but, due to the sad and unexpected death of Clarke Duncan, a replacement was necessary.

It’s being reported that Dennis Haysbert, star of the hit TV series 24 and movies like Major League, has entered into negotiations to step into the role.

Skull-Face Island Banner

Greetings! It’s Adam Frazier aka FamousMonster and it’s time for another transmission from Skull-Face Island. As always I’m joined by Oroku Saki, David Allen — wait a second… where the HELL is David?

Guys, I hate to break it to you, but David is missing – he was last seen down by the lagoon with a fishing pole and a pack of Marlboro Reds. Producer Tim Grant and myself tried to find David before this week’s transmission but alas, we didn’t have enough time to coordinate with the natives and organize a proper search party. I’m sure he’ll turn up eventually…

Being as David is probably somewhere whistlin’ the theme to The Andy Griffith Show, Tim pulls double-duty this week as producer and co-host, so you’ll get to hear him butcher names and slur his speech as he drinks Dale’s Pale Ale and curses my name under his breath.

Michael Clarke Duncan

Michael Clarke Duncan, the hulking actor who played notable characters in The Green Mile, Armageddon, and Daredevil, died today. He was 54.

The actor had suffered a heart attack back in July and doctors initially expected him to make a full recovery, but he remained in the hospital and had been moved to an intensive care unit in August. TMZ reports that Duncan’s passing today came suddenly. His girlfriend, former Apprentice star Omarosa Manigault, was with him at the hospital in Los Angeles today and had left his room for a short time. He was dead upon her return.

The Chicago native, who entered into the world of show biz as a bodyguard for celebrities like Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, got his big-screen break in 1998 in Michael Bay’s Armageddon, where he starred alongside Bruce Willis. It was Willis’ influence that led to Duncan landing his breakout role as John Coffey in the Frank Darabont-directed The Green Mile, based on the novel by Stephen King. It was this role of a death row inmate with extraordinaries powers which earned Duncan several award nominations, including an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

SalmonIt only takes a few things in life to make me happy. One is Cheez-Its, another is the sweet, sweet fantasy that someone, somewhere will FINALLY catch that crafty bastard Benny Hill, and last but not least, Broken Lizard.

Collider has made me happy today, being the site that has the brand new red band trailer for Broken Lizard‘s newest offering, The Slammin’ Salmon.

Check out the trailer below, and remember, it’s RED BAND and NSFW. You’ve been warned.

The movie centers around the wait staff of a high class restaurant owned by a former heavyweight boxing champion (Michael Clarke Duncan) who sets up a contest where the best waiter will win $10,000 and the worst waiter will receive the ultimate ass-kicking by the champ himself.
