Studio turn-out over at San Diego Comic-Con may be small this year, but this gives other films an opportunity to shine. Aside from our excitement for WB’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice panel, as well as Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part II, there’s Quentin Tarantino‘s The Hateful Eight. In anticipation of the film’s panel, EW has unveiled a brand new image from the film, which features Kurt Russell and Samuel L. Jackson traveling by stagecoach through what appears to be a nasty snowstorm. Tarantino also shares some info on what serves as an inspiration for the film. More on this below.

‘The Visit’ Trailer: When Humans Meet Aliens

The Visit Movie Trailer, Michael Madsen

We’ve seen plenty of movies that offer a take on what it would (will?) be like when aliens from another world decide to pay our humble little species a visit one day. They come in many forms; some of them are action-packed Hollywood blockbuster types, some are over-the-top, some are terrifying.

The Visit from director Michael Madsen (no, not that one) presents the scenario in a much more realistic way. Precautions are taken, questions are asked, so on and so forth. Madsen, a Danish documentary filmmaker (Into Eternity: A Film for the Future), shot the movie in a similar style due to its coverage of “an event that has never taken place.”

To be honest I don’t really know what’s going on in this trailer, but it sure does look interesting. You can read a synopsis and see the trailer and a poster for The Visit below.

Quentin Tarantino The Hateful Eight

After receiving some exciting news that Django Unchained director Quentin Tarantino was working on another western titled The Hateful Eight, the filmmaker announced that he is putting the project on the shelf because he is “very depressed” that his script leaked online.

While the The Hateful Eight may be shelved, Tarantino has the intention to turn the script into a novel, and is considering adapting to film it depending on the success of it. Surely something we did not want to see happen to such a promising film that would have starred Nebraska‘s Bruce Dern and Tarantino’s favorite actor Christoph Waltz. Hit the jump to read more about the leak.

‘Sin City: A Dame To Kill For’ Finds Its Titular Dame Ava In Eva Green

Eva Green

Director Robert Rodriguez has found his dame that someone is bound to kill for as production on the long-in-development Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is now fully underway. Despite early reports that had both Angelina Jolie and Rachel Weisz both in contention for the role of Ava Lord, described by co-director/Sin City creator Frank Miller as “every man’s most glorious dreams come true, she’s also every man’s darkest nightmares,” French actress Eva Green has won the coveted part.

The casting of Green does come as an unexpected surprise – as the best surprises usually tend to be – but she has always been a talented and alluring actress adept at portraying multi-dimensional characters both beautiful and haunted in films such as Bernardo Bertolucci’s The Dreamers, Ridley Scott’s underrated 2005 Crusades epic Kingdom of Heaven, and especially in Casino Royale, where she played Vesper Lynd to Daniel Craig in his first (and best until Skyfall was released) time playing James Bond. Recently Green appeared in Tim Burton’s film version of the 1960s Gothic horror soap opera Dark Shadows and is set to appear later this summer in 300: Rise of an Empire. She also played the devious Morgan on the short-lived Starz series Camelot.
