Green Lantern Vol. 1: Sinestro Green Lantern, Vol. 1: Sinestro
Written by Geoff Johns
Art by Doug Mahnke and Mike Choi
DC Comics
Release Date: May 15, 2012
Cover Price: $22.99

When DC relaunched their books last year with the New 52, there were a number of books that I decided to drop. One of those books was Green Lantern. I just wasn’t enjoying it anymore, so it did not make the cut. However, when the chance came to read the first trade of the new series, Green Lantern: Sinestro, I decided I would take a chance on it. I had heard that the book had improved, and I’m here to say that it has. Green Lantern is a good book again, and if you dropped it like I did, you would be remiss in picking up the first trade.

The first thing to know about the story is that most of the multi-colored Lanterns are gone. Sure, the Yellow Lanterns play a big role in the story, but merely as the antagonists, which is what they should be. The story focuses on the main Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, and his relationship with Sinestro. Hal has been stripped of his ring, and Sinestro has been re-admitted into the GL Corps, which makes no one happy. Hal’s life sucks on Earth, what with the no superpowers, and getting evicted, and not owning a car. Sinestro shows up to offer Hal a chance at redemption, and shortly the two are off to save Sinestro’s home planet.

GoD List Banner

Each and every week “Henchman24″ MK2Fac3 and “Dr. McDavid” Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of their pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of December 14, 2011. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

The collective “HenchFac3” attempts to bring you the knowledge of the latest and greatest comic books that are being released each and every week. Now, unfortunately, the situation does not always play out in the manner in which we have anticipated. Sometimes, we pick absolute flops. Sometimes we pick books that don’t even ship that week. And sometimes, we pick the same comic every month. We’re not theoretical physicists, and as much as MK2Fac3 wants you to believe that he’s Batman, he’s totally not. He cannot prepare for any and all eventualities. But more often than not, we pick some really good books. And while our track record does not garner us a perfect score, I think that if you pick up this week’s books, you’ll be more than impressed with our choices. For we are “The HenchFac3,” and this, well this is The GoD List.

Comic Book Art Blogs Worth Viewing: The Sindiecate

There are a lot of great comic book art blogs out there, beyond the deviantart pages of the world, and if you’re a comic book fan, these are webpages that you should be checking out on a daily basis. All this week (okay, so we had a bit of a break, I had to find some more to talk about), I’m going to highlight a few that I think are worthy of your attention or are just pages for some of my favorite artists.

The Sindiecate is one of the newest art collective blogs. In fact it just started a few weeks ago. The artists involved in this one are David Lafuente, Jorge Munoz, James Harren, Ryan Ottley, and Mike Choi. Their stated goal is to “pay homage to independent comic books and authors.” The first theme they tackled was Todd deZago and Mike Wieringo’s Tellos, with Jonathan Ross/Tommy Lee Edwards being the second theme. This week is focusing on Locke and Key, and there are already a couple of great pieces up.

Astonishing ThorThor fans rejoice! We have another ongoing series for Thor just in time for the movie hype to build it up.

The new Astonishing Thor mini-series will debut in November, from the creative team of creators Rob Rodi and Mike Choi with covers by Esad Ribic.

Will it be important to the Thor line up? Especially with the over saturation happening with both Thor and Captain America? There has already been an Ultimate Thor announced as well as a Thor/Iron Man series, so is this too much?

Shown below is Marvel‘s press release announcing the new series.
