The GoD List Banner

Each and every week, I, “Is this your favorite holiday?” Henchman 21 and “New Year’s” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible… theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of December 31, 2014. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

Happy New Year’s Eve, everyone! There is hardly anything out today, what with the holiday and it being a fifth Wednesday of the month, but what is coming out is pretty cool so you should try to get to a store today and pick up some of the books being offered today. Besides, you’ll want something to do tomorrow while you rest off your hangover, and what better way to ring in the new year than read some comics. Let’s drop the ball on The GoD List!

Miracleman by Mark Buckingham Banner

The next entry in the Miracleman saga was unveiled Saturday as Marvel Comics announced at New York Comic-Con 2013 that they are moving forward and reprinting issues of the series starting in January 2014 with Miracleman #1. From there, it looks like the series will reprint all of the classic Alan Moore run from the 80s until it reaches the previously unpublished Miracleman #25, written by Neil Gaiman with art by Mark Buckingham. After that, Marvel will publish all new Miracleman stories by Gaiman and Buckingham, with the plan being to finish the story that Gaiman had planned almost 20 years ago.

Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso said, “The wait is over. Marvel will finally be bringing these timeless, ground-breaking stories to a whole new generation of reader.” The new announcement was made during the Cup O’ Joe panel at NYCC, with a video by Gaiman introducing the plans for the series.

Check out the covers here below.

Geeks of Doom's Exclusive Coverage of SDCC 2009

Marvel Comics has acquired the rights to classic super-hero Marvelman, also referred to as Miracleman in the United States, from creator Mick Anglo. The company made the announcement during the last few minutes of the San Diego Comic-Con Cup o’ Joe panel.

Shortly after the announcement, the panelist, which included Editor-In-Chief Joe Quesada, Publisher Dan Buckley, Jeph Loeb, Jim McCann, and C.B. Cebulski, donned blue t-shirts with the familiar “MM” Marvel Man logo on it.

Buckley stated that Marvel was talking with several creators who did Marvelman stories in the ’80s and ’90s. Both Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman are among those creators, but nothing has been announced beyond the acquisition.

Marvel hasn’t stated the full terms of the deal — whether they own just the likeness or if they can reprint past stories such as the unpublished Miracleman #25 that was written by Gaiman for the now-defunct Eclipse Comics, which was never published.
