2011 MTV Movie AwardsThe 2011 MTV Movie Awards aired live earlier this evening, and if you know anything about this particular awards show, you’ll know it’s a popularity contest. The movies nominated appear to teens and young adults and the winners are determined by that demographic, which, judging by the large amount of Twilight wins each year, I’m guessing is mostly females.

If you love Twilight, then this awards show should be good to go for another year for you, when the final movie is released. This year, the film franchise’s vampire star Robert Pattinson was pretty much the star of the show, winning for Best Male Actor, Best Kiss (with co-star Kristen Stewart), Best Fight Scene (with co-star Bryce Dallas Howard). He also was one of the actors who presented the Generation Award to Reese Witherspoon.

Aside from the seeing your favorite stars from consistently nominated film franchises like Twilight and Harry Potter, as well as whatever lesbian kiss was in a movie that year, the 2011 MTV Movie Awards always has a few world premieres from upcoming movies. This year, the show debuted exclusive footage from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, and Super 8.

You can watch those videos here below.

Tom Cruise Resurrects ‘Tropic Thunder’ Suit Les Grossman For MTV Movie Awards

2009-01-23-tropic_thunder.jpgAside from the trailers shown off at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, there was pretty much only one other thing that really stood out as memorable and hilarious. That, surprisingly, came in the return of Les Grossman, the vulgar, in-your-face movie-producing head honcho who made such a memorable mark in the Hollywood parody, Tropical Thunder.

Grossman (played brilliantly by the not-always-sane but still incredibly-talented Tom Cruise) opened the show up with a pre-recorded skit in which he takes on the producing duties of the MTV Movie Awards and goes on to offer advice (in his own loving way) to The Twilight Saga stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, and then to young Jaden Smith while poppa Will Smith stands by.

A little later on, stars of The Hangover Ken Jeong and Ed Helms opened up a musical number, which quickly gets Grossman’s attention and forces him to keep the show going himself with a dance number with JLo!

Again, these were pretty much the only thing entertaining about the ceremony, but now you can skip wasting time with the whole show and just click over to the other side and watch the videos now!

MTV Movie Awards Trailers For ‘Harry Potter,’ ‘Twilight,’ ‘Scott Pilgrim’ & ‘Last Airbender’

Harry Potter and the Deathly HallowsIn case you had not heard, the 2010 MTV Movie Awards aired last night. And in case you actually cared, they sucked as they have for the past five years or so… give or take and all that.

The problem with the awards is that they went from being cool to aiming at pre-teen kids as their audience far too much. Not only that, but then actually letting them vote, which leads to the most preposterous things you could possibly think of even nominating going on to take home the popcorn trophy and embarrassing true movie fans everywhere.

Even so, each year usually brings at least one or two things worth mentioning, and some exciting new trailers to check out. This year, the big world premiere trailers shown were for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, The Last Airbender, and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

If you’re excited about that last trailer, then you probably actually loved this year’s MTV Movie Awards, but because we try to love all of our readers as equally as possible, we wanted to show them all off.

MTV Movie Awards Video Round-Up: ‘Harry Potter,’ ‘New Moon,’ ‘Transformers 2’

I’m just going to come right out and say it: The MTV Movie Awards are not quite what they used to be. Not only does everyone know the winners, allowing most of the losers to not even bother showing up; those who do win always end up being highly undeserving of the award thanks to the scary-large amount of little kids out there who rock the vote. In the few minutes that I did watch, here’s what I saw: Andy Samberg ripping off Billy Crystal’s Oscar bit; Ashley Tisdale winning “Breakout Female Performer of the Year” for High School Musical 3; Hayden Panettiere swearing a lot to show that she’s all grown up now; and Miley Cyrus winning for Best Song over A.R. Rahman‘s “Jai Ho” from Slumdog Millionaire, and Bruce Springsteen‘s song “The Wrestler” from The Wrestler. These few brief moments were so painful to watch, it was literally all my little heart could take, bless it so. I’ve recorded the ceremony, so I can watch the rest later with the ability to fast forward through anything so bad that it has me tempted to inflict self-harm as a valid alternative.

While the show may be unbearable to most, they do at least show a handful of new clips and trailers from some of the year’s biggest upcoming movies, and those, my friends, I am nothing but happy to share with you here!

Click over to the other side for all the MTV Movie preview action you can handle.
