Good Omens Header Image

During Amazon’s Prime Showcase panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2018 their adaptation of Good Omens, the book by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, was on hand.

At one point during the show’s time on stage a disembodied voice rang out, speaking to Gaiman, who created the series and is the showrunner. The voice belonged to God, a character on the show. And who was voicing God? That would be two-time Academy Award winner Frances McDormand (Fargo, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri).

Continue below to see what she had to say and to check out a Good Omens behind the scenes video as well as a new poster.

American Gods

It’s been nearly one year already since season one of American Gods came to a close. Since that debut season, however, things have not gone quite as expected. In November it was announced that showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green had both decided to depart the series. Alias, Heroes, and Star Trek: Discovery writer Jesse Alexander has since taken over as showrunner.

But as they say, the show must go on. And go on it has, albeit a little bit slower than most have hoped. Production on the new season began last month, and now Starz has released a video from the set which also reveals when fans can expect to see the next season.

Continue below to check out the video.

How To Talk To Girls At Parties

A24 has released an official trailer for How to Talk to Girls at Parties, which is based on Neil Gaiman‘s short story of the same name.

The movie is directed by John Cameron Mitchell (Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Shortbus), and tells the story of a boy falling in love with a girl in 1970s London. A simple story, really. Apart from the fact that this particular girl happens to actually be an alien from another world who’s visiting our planet. It stars Elle Fanning, Alex Sharp, Nicole Kidman, and Ruth Wilson.

American Gods A Zorya sister drinking

Things have gone great for the Starz TV series adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s book American Gods thus far. The show premiered this past April to critical acclaim, and within a couple of weeks of debuting a season two had been given the greenlight. The complete first season arrived on Blu-ray and DVD last month, and season two is expected to arrive sometime next year.

But things weren’t always so good with American Gods. The series was in development for many years, including at HBO, who ultimately decided to pass on it before the project eventually landed at Starz the following year. Just as things got much better then, it was only a matter of time before some bad news. And today, that bad news arrives at our doors. It’s being reported that creators and showrunners Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Pushing Daisies) and Michael Green (Logan, Blade Runner 2049) have decided to depart from the series.

American Gods Season 1 Wednesday and Shadow

American Gods
Season 1
Blu-ray | DVD
Developed by Bryan Fuller and Michael Green for Starz Television
Starring Ricky Whittle, Ian McShane, Emily Browning, Pablo Schreiber, Peter Stormare, Crispin Glover, Yetide Badaki, Bruce Langley, Gillian Anderson
Lionsgate Home Entertainment
Release date: October 17, 2017

Much like Watchman, the highly regarded comic book miniseries from Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, Neil Gaiman’s 2001 fantasy novel American Gods was something fans figured would be too difficult to translate to the big screen. It’s definitely a story better left for television, where it could be told over many episodes and possibly even seasons, and it almost happened in 2011 when HBO snagged the rights. But the cable giant that gave us the masterpiece that is Game Of Thrones, a worthy adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s best-selling fantasy series, just couldn’t get an American Gods series off the ground. A few years later, Fremantle Media bought the rights with Starz jumping on to develop a show with Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) and Michael Green (Logan) as showrunners. Now that sounded promising! Even more promising — Gaiman himself was on board as an executive producer. What happened next was the creation of one of the best shows on television.
