New Jersey Horror Con 2019: David Howard Thornton interview

Last week at the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ, the 2019 New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival provided thousands of horror fans and gorehounds with an escape. Dozens of celebrity guests filled the halls signing autographs, doing Q&A panels, and posing for photos with adoring fans. One guest was David Howard Thornton who plays the crazy killer clown Art in Damien Leone’s Terrifier, streaming on Netflix now. In a year where Bill Skarsgard revamped the classic horror clown Pennywise for It: Chapter 1, Thornton’s Art may have been horror cinema’s most “terrifying” new painted face killer. On Friday, he appeared in costume for photo ops and even took a stroll around the convention floor to frighten and amuse eager guests. I got a chance to speak with him later that evening about the film, clowns, and an upcoming Terrifier sequel.

New Jersey Horror Con 2019: Vendor Spotlight

Last week, the New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival took over the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Horror fans and gorehounds got a chance to mingle with their favorite genre icons, get autographs and photos, take in Q&A panels, and more. While you may go to conventions for the celebrities or the films, many go for the MERCH! And there were countless vendors there offering anything a true horror fans could ask for. You had your standard t-shirts, pop-toys, and collectibles. But I want to highlight a few vendors who stood out amongst the sea of horror-themed merchandise.

The New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival took over the Showboat Hotel on the Atlantic City Boardwalk last week and unleashed a three-day film festival combining shorts and feature-length films from up and coming genre filmmakers. While I was bouncing around from the show floor to Q&A panels and more, I managed to take in a few excellent short films and a crazy feature that horror fans should look out for.

New Jersey Horror Con 2018 Films

Last weekend, the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City was flooded with horror fans for the NJ Horror Con and Film Festival. Many showed up to meet their favorite horror and rock-n-roll celebrities, and take in all the convention aspects such as cool merch, Q&A panels, and photo ops. Others came and stayed for the films. The three-day festival featured nearly 40 short and feature-length films from up and coming genre filmmakers. Many of the filmmakers were there with family and fans to support them in the Wild Eye screening room presented by Wild Eye Releasing. I got a chance to see several films while there and here are a few recommendations.

New Jersey Horror Con 2018

This year’s New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival finished up a crazy weekend at the Showboat Hotel on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. Any gathering of superfans is going to bring some amazing cosplayers. Saturday night, NJ Horror Con gave out their awards in the Cosplay Contest, but there were no losers. While every horror convention will inevitably bring out a number of Michaels, Freddys, and Jasons, the fans in Jersey rocked their costumes and the effort to entertain and scare others was amazing.

Ash vs Evil Dead Dana Delorenzo Kelly

This weekend, the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ, hosted the New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival. Fans packed in to meet and greet their favorite celebrities, take photos, shop the vendor tables, and indulge in Q&A panels. The panel area opened up Friday night with a dynamic duo from Ash vs Evil Dead as stars Dana DeLorenzo (Kelly Maxwell) and Ted Raimi (Chet/Henrietta) took to the stage… or should I say took over the stage. Despite the series being cancelled by the STARZ network earlier this year, DeLorenzo had one of the most consistently packed lines at NJ Horror Con and there were plenty of Ash cosplayers. They gave the fans a hell of a fun time during their panel’s Q&A.
