Nickelodeon is all about the revivals lately. Not only did they bring back Hey Arnold! last year, but they also recently revived the game show Double Dare and announced plans for new Blue’s Clues, Rocko‚Äôs Modern Life, and Invader Zim. And now they’re adding another title to that list. It’s been announced that the hit 1990s animated show Rugrats is also being revived.

Not only are new episodes of the animated favorite on the way—26 of them to be exact—but it’s also been announced that a live-action Rugrats movie with some CGI characters is also in the works. Continue below for all of the details.

Nickelodeon's Double Dare

A month ago we found out that the popular ’80s and early ’90s game show Double Dare was being revived by Nickelodeon. The only question we didn’t have an answer to, was whether or not Marc Summers was going to return as host.

Now Nickelodeon has announced a return date for the show, and that Summers will indeed be involved. But there’s a catch. Summers will not be returning as host, instead taking on a commentary role for the game’s challenges. Liza Koshy steps into the role of host for this new version of Double Dare.

Continue below for the full announcement.

Nickelodeon's Double Dare

Nickelodeon has announced that they’re bringing back the hit game show Double Dare this summer, with 40 brand new episodes.

Their first game show, Nickelodeon’s Double Dare ran in one form or another from 1986 to 1993, including Super Sloppy Double Dare and Family Double Dare. These mainly ran on Nick, with a short run on Fox in the summer of 1988. The show was revived once before with Double Dare 2000, which ran of course in the year 2000.

Nickelodeon's Are You Afraid of the Dark

Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark?, the children’s cable network’s spooky anthology series, is the epitome of ’90s childhood nostalgia. I remember staying up late just to watch those group of kids tell stories that blurred the lines between story and reality. And like all good ’90s childhood nostalgia, it must be adapted into a film.

The latest reports confirm that Paramount is working on a film adaptation of the series and that they have hired It writer Gary Dauberman to pen the script. More on the story below.

‘Legends Of The Hidden Temple,’ ‘Hey Arnold’ Returning To Nickelodeon

Legends of the Hidden Temple

I loved the Nickelodeon game shows of the ’80s and ’90s such as Double Dare, G.U.T.S., Nick Arcade, Finders Keepers, and of course, Legends of the Hidden Temple. Most of them weren’t on the air all that long, but they still had a lasting impact on many people. This nostalgia was re-ignited when Nickelodeon Games and Sports for Kids (or Nick GAS for short) came along and brought reruns of these favorites with it, and plenty of episodes can still be found to this day on YouTube if the urge to watch them comes along.

But now, in a time where reviving old shows is the popular thing to be doing, it’s been announced that Nickelodeon will be revisiting some of their old favorites. The network has announced new projects based on the aforementioned Legends of the Hidden Temple and also one of their hit animated series, Hey Arnold!. The only catch is, it might not be the kind of revival you were hoping for.

Nickelodeon's Are You Afraid of the Dark

Back in December of last year, we saw a cool CG remake of the HBO horror anthology series Tales from the Crypt‘s opening that made us wish that the show would come back from the grave it currently resides in. There was a time a few years back now when a revival of the show was being pitched to networks, but nothing ever came of it sadly. We miss you, Cryptkeeper.

Now another popular ’90s horror TV show’s intro is getting a makeover that might just make you wish it too would be reborn. An extended re-imagining of Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark intro takes some of the familiar elements of the original intro and show and adds some new stuff.

You can check out the original intro and this new re-imagined intro in the videos below.

Good Burger

If you were young in the ’90s and watched Nickelodeon, you’re surely familiar with Kenan & Kel. The show starred Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell, and ran from 1996 to 2000. Since then Thompson has gone on to a successful run on Saturday Night Live, while Mitchell has continued acting albeit in lesser known projects. Mitchell also auditioned for SNL, but it didn’t work out for him.

There have been reports of the pair not staying in touch in the years since their show ended, but last night they reunited on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for a sketch that re-created the duo’s 1997 movie Good Burger, which was inspired by a sketch they did on another Nickelodeon show, All That.

You can check out the Kenan & Kel reunion below, as well as a behind the scenes video and one of their sketches from the ’90s.

Marc Summer's Hosting Nickelodeon's Double DareMarc Summer's Hosting Nickelodeon's Double Dare

I, like many others, have fond memories of watching the game show Double Dare on Nickelodeon as a kid. The show saw teams facing off in a mixture of trivia and extra messy challenges for the right to take on the super sloppy final obstacle course.

The show was hosted by Marc Summers, who’s gone on to produce and appear on various shows, most notably on Food Network. Summers was recently asked about the possibility of rebooting the game show, to which he replied that he’s actually been wanting to bring it back, but there’s been speedbumps.

Continue reading to see what Summers had to say about a reboot, and why it might not ever happen.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Recently Michael Bay made some comments about the upcoming reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that has fans understandably furious.

Bay, who’s a producer on the Nickelodeon project through his Platinum Dunes, said that their mutated reptiles would actually be an “alien race,” leading many to assume that these guys were actually going to turn the Ninja Turtles into aliens. Not the most popular thing to say, as you might imagine.

Angry fans took to the ‘net in droves to voice their fiery disapproval, and Michael Bay was quick to respond. Read what he said below.
