NYCC 2010: Cosplay photos: PowergirlI think we can all agree here that one of the best things about attending any Comic-Con is getting the chance to see all those costumes. Whether it is a hot girl dressed up like your favorite superhero or just a cool looking stud dressed up like Master Chief, Cosplay is not only acceptable at the Con, it is the thing to do!

But when you are surrounded by a sea of Stormtroopers, Supermen, and half of the G.I Joe roster, how does one get a chance to see the best costumes at the event? Fear not, dear reader, as Geeks of Doom is proud to round up some of the more awesome costumes present at this year’s New York Comic-Con, which took place on October 8-10, 2010.

Once again, big super powered props needs to go to one Jared Fowler, who was kind enough to provide us with some of his nice pictures.

So what are you all waiting for? A gallery of hot looking babes and cool looking costumes await you. Face it fanboy: You’ve hit the jackpot!

Great news for fans of The Walking Dead living outside the United States!

Fox International has picked up The Walking Dead and will air the series in 120 countries, producer Gale Anne Hurd announced today at the 2010 New York Comic-Con.

Hurd, speaking at The Walking Dead‘s panel at the Con’s packed IGN Theater, said that the series will premiere internationally within a week of its U.S. premiere on AMC, which is set for October 31, 2010, at 10pm.

The television series is based on the popular comic book series by Robert Kirkman and was greenlit by AMC for 6 episodes, which includes the 90-minute pilot (all subsequent episodes are 60 minutes each), and encompasses Season 1 of the show.

NYCC 2010: ‘Green Lantern: The Animated Series’ First Impressions + Concept Art

Green Lantern: The Animated Series

We’ve known that Green Lantern: The Animated Series was coming to Cartoon Network for a little while, and attendees at the 2010 New York Comic-COn got their first look at the series this weekend. Sadly, there wasn’t any actual footage shown, but there was plenty of concept art shown (which you can view here below), as well as a a 20-second test clip of animation.

The show will be completely animated by CG (think The Clone Wars series) and Hal Jordan and Kilowog will be the main stars of the show. The good news is that Bruce Timm will be one of the showrunners, and he’s always produced consistently good shows, so there’s no reason to think this will be any different.

Details that emerged from the panel include that the show will run for at least 26 episodes, with the first 13 episodes already planned out. The main villains of the show will be the Red Lanterns, and it sounds like the other colored Lanterns will show up at some point. Everyone may assume that Sinestro would be the ideal villain for the series, but he actually won’t be showing up, at least for the first 13 episodes, although he will be getting built up over the course of the series for his eventual reveal, and they do have plans to reveal him at some point.

NYCC 2010: ‘Captain America: White’ Still On The Way

Captain America: WhiteFans of Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale’s series of “color” stories (Spider-Man: Blue, Daredevil: Yellow, Hulk: Gray) have been waiting for their next installment in the series for a long time, Captain America: White, ever since it was first announced. We have only seen one issue, the #0 issue which saw print in July of 2008, but we haven’t seen anything since.

However, at Marvel’s Cup O Joe panel Saturday at the 2010 New York Comic Con, Loeb said that work is still going ahead on the series, and that Tim Sale is still drawing. Loeb said that they are waiting for all the issues to be completed and that Sale is basically painting every page. Loeb also said that they plan to have the series out in time for the Captain America movie.

NYCC 2010: Marvel’s X-Men Panel

Friday at New York Comic-Con 2010 brought another edition of Marvel‘s X-Men panel, and attendees got a few sneak peeks of some upcoming projects.

Probably the biggest announcement at the panel was the one with the least details. Towards the end of the panel, a new series called Age of X was announced with a promo picture with some obvious and not so obvious silhouettes of characters. Panel host and Marvel Sales Manager Arune Singh described it as “the end of mutants as we know them” and made it pretty clear that this series would at least be a spiritual successor (if not an actual sequel) to the fan-favorite “Age of Apocalypse” storyline from the 1990s. Singh said that more details including who will be writing the series, who will be handling the art, and who the mystery characters are will be revealed on Marvel’s webpage in a few weeks. The series will be out in January 2011.

NYCC 2010: ‘Batman Beyond’ Makes the Jump From Mini to Ongoing

Not content to wait until the New York Comic-Con starts, DC got a jump on Wednesday by announcing that the Batman Beyond comic book series, previously planned as a 6-issue mini-series will now get an ongoing series. January will see a new #1 issue, featuring the same creative team as the mini. Writer Adam Beechen and artist Ryan Benjamin will continue to bring readers the further adventures of Terry McGinnis, the Batman of the future.

The mini has seen McGinnis take on some version of the Batman villain Hush. McGinnis, with assistance from Bruce Wayne, has had to protect some of the Batman’s former villains from a bandaged foe, and while the whole mystery has yet to be revealed, it’s been a fun ride so far, and it seems that readers have reacted enough that DC thought it was a good idea to take the series full time.
