Rush
Director: Ron Howard
Screenwriter: Peter Morgan
Cast: Chris Hemsworth, Daniel Brühl, Olivia Wilde, Alexandra Maria Lara, Pierfrancesco Favino
Universal Pictures
Rated PG-13 | 122 Minutes
Release Date: September 27, 2013
Academy Award winner Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind, Frost/Nixon) reunites with writer Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon, The Queen), on Rush, a film about the ’70s rivalry between Formula One drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda.
Rush stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor, The Avengers) as English playboy James Hunt and Daniel Brühl (Inglourious Basterds) as Niki Lauda, a methodical Austrian racing driver and brilliant mechanic.
Ron Howard has made some great films: Apollo 13, Willow, A Beautiful Mind, Frost/Nixon, and, of course, 1982’s Night Shift. He’s made a lot of disappointing, forgettable films too: The Dilemma, Angels & Demons, The Da Vinci Code, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and Edtv – just to name a few. Rush is somewhere in-between, a gorgeous looking film by cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle (Dredd, Slumdog Millionaire) with two fantastic performances, but a script that is labored, cliché, and – dare I say it – slightly misogynistic.

‘Her’ Trailer: Joaquin Phoenix Falls In Love With The Voice Of Scarlett Johansson
|
People who use an iPhone have become accustomed to hearing the voice of Siri whenever they need help or have a good joke. Spike Jonze‘s Her centers on a man (Joaquin Phoenix) who falls in love with a Siri-like AI. Of course when that AI is voiced by Scarlett Johansson, it’s not too hard to fall madly in love with a piece of software.
The trailer feels very simple telling the story of the main character, who has anti-social issues after going through a huge break up. After purchasing a new computer and answering a few personality questions, he “meets” Samantha. This isn’t the kind of relationship we would normally see between a human and a computer. There is a real sense of pain these characters go through as they develop a close and tender relationship but suffer because they are unable to have any sort of physical contact with each other.
The first trailer for Her has been released, and you can watch it below.

‘Rush’ Trailer: Edge Of Death Makes Chris Hemsworth Feel Alive
There are sports rivalries, then there are sports rivalries that are just begging to be adapted to the big screen. The one rivalry between racing legends James Hunt and Niki Lauda is not just a story about bitter rivals trying to be the first to cross the finish line, but also a story of how their competitiveness inspired each other to be better race car drivers.
Ron Howard‘s new film, Rush, will shine the light on the lives – on and off the track – of these two legendary race car drivers. Chris Hemsworth plays Hunt, while Daniel Brühl plays his rival, Lauda. Olivia Wilde and Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones) also star.
Check out the first trailer for the film after the jump.
