Patty Jenkins Is Working On Wonder Woman 2 Script

It’s been only a few weeks since Wonder Woman was released, and the film continues to do wonderfully at the box office. However, Patty Jenkins isn’t signed on for a sequel. But if we have any hope of her making a return, it’s this.

There is a new report that says Jenkins is on board to co-write the film with Geoff Johns. More on the story below.

Patty Jenkins directs Wonder Woman

It wouldn’t be at all surprising for a studio to sign a director on for a sequel after a film’s success. Given how Wonder Woman shattered all expectations, one would hope that director Patty Jenkins would already be signed on to direct Wonder Woman 2. There were reports going around saying she was.

However, that doesn’t seem to be quite the case. While Jenkins isn’t signed on, Warner Bros. will start a negotiation process with her very soon. More on the story below.

Movie Review: Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman
Director: Patty Jenkins
Screenplay: Geoff Johns, Allan Heinberg
Cast: Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen, Elena Anaya
Studio: Warner Bros. Pictures
Release date: June 2, 2017

Given that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad received such poor reviews (including from me), it’s easy to believe that WB could not put out anything remotely entertaining within the DCEU. Their constant meddling and the films’ lack of care certainly proved that they were not up to the task of competing with their rivals at Marvel Studios. But then came Wonder Woman. And this isn’t just about her own standalone film, which opens this weekend — we’ll get to that later — this is about her literally carrying the weight of the DCEU on her shoulders. For it was her who saved Batman v Superman from being a complete abomination. Her wit, her mystery, her power, and her inspiration that carried on throughout that film that had many asking when is Wonder Woman going to get her own feature.

Now that time has come. After years of standing on comic book shelves, the character has finally gotten her own film, simply titled Wonder Woman. Her own story to tell, with no assistance from the Dark Knight or the Man of Steel. Through stunning grace, incredible power, and mighty courage, not only is Wonder Woman what a superhero film should be, it showcases an empowering figure who should be an inspiration to anyone, but most importantly to females who have waited for a character they could look up to.

Normally, major studios reserve some of their exclusive first look footage reveals for a bigger fan convention venue like the San Diego Comic-Con. But there are a few who do make it out to the Anaheim, CA area for WonderCon. This year is no different with Warner Bros giving fans a sneak peek at their upcoming slate of DCEU films. The only difference is that I don’t have to wait hours on end to for a wristband or sleeping on concrete to get inside an arena.

With Wonder Woman nearly completed and Zack Snyder working hard on Justice League, attendees were treated to an early look at both films. Check out our coverage below.

David Thewlis to join Wonder Woman

While Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) has been performing her heroic duties in most of the marketing campaign for her upcoming solo film Wonder Woman, there has been no sign of a villain yet. TV spots and trailers seem to indicate that there wouldn’t be a super-powered villain, and the film would just be a battle over the Mother Box McGuffin. However, there is a new rumor that says David Thewlis (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix) will be playing the role of Ares, the Greek god of war. More on the story below.

Director Patty Jenkins Responds To Claim That ‘Wonder Woman’ Is A Mess

Wonder Woman Header Image

In the past few weeks, Warner Bros.’ DCEU has been receiving a wave of negative publicity fueled by the widespread critical panning of both Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. Even before their respective releases, reports coming out did not cast a good reflection on the DCEU or its future. These reports ranged from multiple writers signing on for competing scripts to studio interfering with the Suicide Squad editing process. Recently, an “open letter” written by an ‘angry” former WB employee who wrote under the name “Gracie Law” to WB CEO Kevin Tsujihara said Wonder Woman is a mess, and that the studio was trying to hide it “behind the great trailer.”

But a lot of these criticisms don’t come without their counter arguments, as we have seen from the cast of Suicide Squad and now Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, who is responding to that open letter that claims Wonder Woman is “a mess.” More on the story below.
