Inside The Strain The Master

Sometimes, you have to marvel at the behind-the-scenes talent of some television shows. We all know that The Strain could not be as freaky as it is, without the Creature FX team, that design the creepy little blind “feelers,” the humans transforming to strigoi, and of course, the various incarnations of the king of the vamps – The Master.

Check out how they do it in the video below.

Last week on The Strain, we met newly elevated Kelly Goodweather’s (Natalie Brown) scuttling vampre kids, and nobody could catch or kill them. Dutch (Ruta Gedmintas) and Nora (Mia Maestro) get Fet (Kevin Durand)out of jail, and all three are recruited to help the “clean Red Hook phase.” I really think they are going through with the budding romance story between Palmer (Jonathan Hyde), and Coco (Lizzie Brocheré), and I don’t like it. I’m waiting for her agenda to appear.

Last week on The Strain, a new character, well two new characters were introduced via an old black and white luchador movie, where Angel (aka Felix – Joaquín Cosio) fought vampires. Then we cut to sullen old Felix working in a restaurant, suspicious of Gus (Miguel Gomez). AND… there’s a girl. Eph (Corey Stoll) and Nora (Mia Maestro) unleashed the vampire plague on the vampire plague, and Eph was gleeful, as it’s working. The infected vamps were committing forced suicide by the Master. We find out that Setrakian (David Bradley) makes a worm potion that does not turn him into a vamp, but keeps him alive and strong. Nora (Mia Maestro) manages to get that out of him, but promises not to tell. Eph (Corey Stoll) has his hands full with bratty Zach, who really wants his mommy. Don’t worry Zach, Mommy’ll find you. Eph tries yelling and scaring him, which never works. One win – they manage to infect their male human guinea pig vamp, and plan to set him free to infect more vamps. Staten Island is vampire free.

Last week on The Strain, we flashback to Abraham Setrakian’s (David Bradley) grandmother telling the story of Sardu the giant, and how he became The Master (gross!). It shows the origin of the cane. Present-day Setrakian is captured by the Ancients, whom Gus (Miguel Gomez) has joined. The “Occido Lumen” is mentioned as an ancient book that might hold the secret to killing The Master (Robin Atkin Downes, Robert Maillet), since sunlight didn’t work. Eichorst (Richard Sammel) gives Kelly (Natalie Brown) back her mental faculties and a bunch of child vampires to command (poor blind children!).
