Justice League Dark

Despite the mounting issues that Warner Bros.’ DCEU has, there are still many other projects to look forward to. Aside from the typical Wonder Woman, The Flash, Justice League, and standalone Batman film, there is also the long-gestating Justice League Dark. Yes, that project is still very much alive, and after spending some time in the development process the studio has found its director in Doug Liman.

If that sounds a bit strange to you, it is because it is. Liman was the director for Gambit, but given that film’s troubled production history, the Edge of Tomorrow director has moved on over to work on this dark supernatural DCEU film. More on the story below.

Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg To Direct Sega-Nintendo Rivalry Film ‘Console Wars’

Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are one of the best comedy writing and directing teams in Hollywood for many good reasons. Here are a few: Superbad, Pineapple Express, and This is the End. I even have a soft spot in my heart (which several doctors have told me could become a health problem over time) for The Green Hornet, and I’m even willing to forgive them for The Watch. These guys may make the occasional misstep, but when they come back they do so with CGI demon genitalia swinging and stoner jokes erupting from every unplugged orifice.

Since This is the End was loved and laughed at (for all of the right reasons) by many last year, the boys are smoking hot again and piling new film and television development projects on their plate like they’re hitting a Golden Corral after a morning of getting righteously baked. Some of these may never see the light of a movie screen, but one that I personally hope does is their adaptation of Blake J. Harris‘ forthcoming book Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo, and the Battle that Defined a Generation. Rogen and Goldberg have signed on to write and direct the film, with Oscar-winning powerhouse Scott Rudin on board to produce.

Johnny Depp Joins Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel

If there was one word that could describe director Wes Anderson’s dream cast wish list for his next project, The Grand Budapest Hotel, it would be ambitious.

The list of names on the cast sheet included Johnny Depp, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Jude Law, Jeff Goldblum, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Owen Wilson, and Angela Lansbury. Though Murray, Norton, Goldblum, Brody, Wilson, and Dafoe are names that often appear in an Anderson film, this would be the first time for Depp, Law, and Lansbury.

Now it’s being reported that Depp has officially joined the cast of The Grand Budapest Hotel, which is to be set in Europe.

No one appears to know nerds quite like producer Scott Rudin.

Having backed the beloved The Social Network, the super producer has just made one of the bigger deals at this year’s Sundance Film Festival (still in the very early days, for what it is worth), picking up the remake rights to the documentary Indie Game: The Movie.
