SDCC 2011: Total Recall panel: Jessica Biel

The Total Recall remake is still over a year away, but the cast and crew were on hand in hopes of building a solid buzz for the movie early. Director Len Wiseman comes out, joined by stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Bryan Cranston, Jessica Biel, and John Cho.

Wiseman says they’re only halfway through filming (and probably shouldn’t be showing anything off yet), but they’re going to show off something anyway. Hooray for pleasing the masses!

Week of Geek: SDCC 2011 Coverage - San Diego Comic Con

SDCC 2011: In Time panel: Damon Lindelof with Justin Timberlake and Amanda SeyfriedAlmost a year ago, we were beginning to hear about a new science fiction thriller called I’m.mortal, which was putting together a cast that included Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, and Cillian Murphy. The movie certainly sounded interesting, and thanks to this year’s San Diego Comic–Con, we now know it looks pretty darn interesting, as well!

The movie, whose title has since been changed to In Time, is set in a future where we’ve perfected everlasting life and everyone stops aging at the age of 25, but in order to protect from overpopulation, time is now used in lieu of money as a currency. This leaves the rich to live as long as they’d like, and the less–fortunate fighting to keep living. Everyone is genetically engineered to die one year after turning 25, so if you’re unable to replenish your time, you will not last long.

Keep reading for more and to see some images from the panel!

Week of Geek: SDCC 2011 Coverage - San Diego Comic Con

SDCC 2011: Prometheus panel: Charlize Theron

The highly anticipated panel for Ridley Scott‘s sorta–kind but not really Alien prequel, Prometheus, was held at San Diego Comic–Con 2011 on Thursday, and things that will excite you as well as things that may make you a little uneasy were discussed.

The panel opened with moderator (and screenwriter) Damon Lindelof, who is of course one of the main men behind one of the greatest TV shows of all time, LOST. Lindelof gets things rolling with a story of how he came to be the writer Ridley chose to pen what would be the final draft used for the movie, before jumping right into a footage presentation.

For chronic procrastinators wishing to attend the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con, there is some good and bad news. The good news is that there are plenty of badges left, but the bad news is that no one can currently purchase them because the official registration page has crashed.

This is the second attempt at opening up registration, the first being a little less than a month ago, which was scraped due to an initial crash. Whatever issues they have with the process is apparently dire enough this time that the organization hasn’t rescheduled.

Comic-Con issued the following official statement via their website:
