Smallville Header

Ready to revisit Smallville High yet? And now that Smallville: The Complete Series is out today, I’m wanting to go back more than ever before.

The 62-disc box set boasts 192 hours of material, which includes all 218 episodes and over 5 hours of brand new content. And that new content is pretty freaking sweet. What they’re offering here is a never-before-seen Superboy pilot shot in 1961, a look back at the series with over 100 minutes of material, a decade of comic con featurette, and so much more, including DC’s Secret Origin documentary.

Countdown to Smallville

Tonight, superhero and science fiction television history will be made with the finale episode of the decade-spanning CW program, Smallville. Smallville has made its way into all hearts, whether loved or hated, there’s no doubting the power that this show has had.

In an effort to honor the epic two-hour finale, Geeks of Doom has taken it upon some its writers to remember the show in its final moments, and for this man, one of my favorite parts of the early days were those one-off shows that fans lovingly referred to as “Freaks of the Week.” As the show continued, we saw the evolution from “meteor freaks” to metahumans, and in the past few seasons, DC Universe cameos, but the meteor freaks from the first seasons still have a large piece of my heart. This is not a comprehensive or “best of list” because I wouldn’t dare say that one of these is better than the other, but listed below are some of my personal favorites. Whether being the guest character in an amazing one-off episode, or a character that had an incredibly amount of heart, these are my Top Meteor Freaks.

Countdown to Smallville

Well, the time has come. The Smallville series finale is upon us. Some are happy to see it go, others (like myself) will miss it terribly, and still others could swear it ended five years ago. Regardless, millions will tune in for what fans are calling “The End of the Beginning” tonight at 8/7c on the CW. But what if you haven’t watched the show since before Clark Kent even had a Fortress of Solitude? Or if you’ve never seen an episode at all? What if there was a series recap that gave you a complete guide to everything you needed to know going into the finale? That would be the best article ever, wouldn’t it? Well, hold on to your capes, because you’re about to experience 10 years of Smallville in about 10 minutes!

MAJOR SPOILERS for Smallville follow!

Countdown to Smallville

For 10 years, Smallville has been the agony and the ecstasy of superhero fans across the world. Some, like me, have loved having a weekly dose of Superman on their TV. Others have found it far too cheesy to take seriously. Either way, it’s hard to deny that certain episodes stand out from the pack and really shine. By the time the series comes to an end this Friday, the show will have produced 217 episodes, making it the longest-running science fiction series in American TV history. Love it or hate it, Smallville has delivered some stuff that has turned the heads of even the most hardened skeptics. With so many episodes to choose from, it’s a real challenge to name the very best, but there’s no harm in trying, is there? In the spirit of nostalgia, let’s take a look at the best of the best!

Smallville Season 10

The CW series Smallville is halfway through its tenth and final season with many unanswered questions still to be resolved.

Starting today, the network is running a teaser promo for the final half of the season that uses part of John Williams’ Superman movie score. The music is set against the word “Believe,” which is a throwback to the 1978 movie’s tagline “You will believe a man can fly.”

Entertainment Weekly has the teaser video, so check it out there, or watch an alternate (with Spanish subtitles) version here below. Also, see the Season 10 promo poster here above (click for larger, full version).

Although the original Smallville creators had a strict “No flights, no tights” policy when it came to Clark Kent and his super abilities, I think we can all agree that after ten years of the show, we’re ready for some tights and flights to send Clark off.
