The Princess Bride

Legendary television writer Norman Lear recently renewed the overall deal he has with Sony. The deal is set to take Lear into his 100th year on this planet of ours.

Variety published a feature about the 97-year-old Lear, but it was just a small part of that feature that set the ol’ internet on fire today. In it there is a quote from Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra, who says that some “very famous people” have approached Sony with hopes of remaking the 1987 fairy tale classic The Princess Bride, which was executive produced by Lear. You can see what he had to say below.

Spider-Man: Far From Home

There’s no doubt that Spider-Man fans were holding on to the hope that Sony and Disney could find some sort of common ground after they broke up. Sony seemed to place the blame on Disney for being too greedy, while star Tom Holland remained optimistic about the situation.

However, at a recent entertainment summit, Sony Pictures CEO Tony Vinciquerra said “for the moment the door is closed.” More on the report below.

Spider-Man: Far From Home

It was exciting to see how Spider-Man’s (Tom Holland) role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe could have expanded given the events of Avengers: Endgame, and the ending for Spider-Man: Far From Home told us that it would have been a significant one. However, given recent events, it seems like the Webhead’s stay is coming to an end. Even those at the top recognize how their relationship wasn’t meant to last. Still, that doesn’t mean we can’t look back and enjoy the temporary arrangement.

And now, we can remember how Spidey’s presence in the MCU was everything that Spider-Man fans hoped it would be as Spider-Man: Far From Home makes its way to home video. More info on when the film will arrive on Digital, 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD, as well as which bonus features will be included, can be found below.

Searching Header Image

The 2018 Sundance darling and summer indie hit Searching will be getting a sequel. The original film, starring John Cho and Debra Messing, centered on a father who was desperate to find her missing daughter. As the police investigation leads nowhere, the father turns to the only place that may lead to his daughter’s whereabouts, her laptop.

This is great news for a film that deserved a lot more attention than it got. And the best thing about it is that writer/director Aneesh Chaganty, co-writer/producer Sev Ohanian, and producer Natalie Qasabian will all be back in their creative capacities to bring a sequel to audiences. More on the report below.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse

Phil Lord and Chris Miller are very adept at being able to give us entertaining material in all mediums from live-action to animation and even television. They are even more well-known for taking risks on projects that many deem to be failures. However, time and again, they have proven the skeptics wrong. As such, they have shown that they can give us hits by directing films like The LEGO Movie and Jump Street films. And of course, the two were also producers on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which won them their first Oscar for Best Animated Feature.

That leads us to our next report. While at the Television Critics Association 2019, they spoke about some upcoming TV series based on Marvel characters which Sony currently controls. More on the report below.

Venom

Venom may have been one of the strangest and most widely panned of Spider-Man-Less spinoffs, but it was such a huge success that Sony plans to follow it up with a sequel, plus additional spinoffs. However, with Venom director Ruben Fleischer unable to commit to directing the sequel because of his responsibilities helming Zombieland: Double Tap, the studio had to find a replacement for Venom 2 and it looks like Venom 2 has got its sticky hands on one — Andy Serkis to be precise.

According to new reports, Serkis will be directing the sequel.

Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is a deep and profound love letter that reads like an odyssey of the success and struggles of those who live within a world that only a few people understand. The director knows full well how things function and operate in this industry and, as such, provides an in-depth look at all the wheeling and dealing that goes on in a very meta way. Backed by a wealth of rich dialogue, razor-sharp humor, juicy violence, and fantastic chemistry between its leads in Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is a fascinating work of art with some blemishes.
