The GoD List Banner

Each and every week, I, “Dasher“ Henchman 21, and “Dancer“ Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible… theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the weeks of December 4, 2013 and December 11, 2013. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

Well, it looks like the comic companies out there don’t want you buying gifts for anyone else because they have dropped a metric crap-ton of must-buy issues and collections this week. Now, you could choose to hold off on buying these or maybe give them to others during this holiday season, but we all know you’re going to buy these now and buy them for yourself. And you know what, I will make no judgments because I’m going to do the same thing myself, so who am I to cast stones? I’m Henchman 21, that’s who, and I can cast stones if I want, but I won’t. Because I love you, my dear readers. And because I love you so much, we’re going to add in some picks from last week as well now that we’re over our Thanksgiving coma. So, join us as we spread some holiday cheer with a gingerbread-spiced The GoD List!

Guest NCBD Picks by Blake Northcott

Yes, I admit it: one of the best comics I’ve read this year is about magical orgasms. This week, Sex Criminals #3 (Image Comics – $3.50), written by Matt Fraction and illustrated by Chip Zdarsky, will be the first book I tear into the moment I get home from collecting my stash.

Marvel Comics To Relaunch ‘Fantastic Four’?

FF: A BeginningMarvel Comics released a teaser image promoting a possible Fantastic Four relaunch. The image promotes a new #1 issue to be released in March 2011, called FF #1: A Beginning.

The current Fantastic Four team of writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Steve Epting will be staying on the book, which is a good thing as they have been doing a great job of it. The series is currently in the middle of the “3” storyline which has promised to change the book in a big way, with one of the main characters set to die. The teaser image seems to tie into that with three hexagons next to each other. Perhaps it’s some kind of chemical symbol? (Hickman is a very smart guy, and he has made the Fantastic Four suitably smart.)

I’m sure this image will make more sense once we reach the end of the current storyline, but I’m just happy to see that Hickman and Epting will be remaining on the book for the foreseeable future. I do think it’s a little weird for Marvel to reset the numbering on one of their longest-running series, especially given their recent habit of changing the numbering on their series to ignore relaunches (see: Thor, Captain America, and next month when Invincible Iron Man jumps from issue 33 to issue 500).
